Well I've been here for a number of years now so I've lived in every part of this great city. But currently I live in downtown.

Well not to be a jerk, but he did blow up. Maybe you are too young to remember? Not sure how old you are, but he basically invented ringtone rap with Ridin' Dirty. That s--- went viral before going viral was a thing. Everyone was doing mock videos and they played that s--- everywhere. Literally everywhere. It was so f---ing annoying to be honest. It was so popular he even had cops recording themselves in cruisers and on the job bumping Riding Dirty.

After he dropped Ultimate Victory, which was his 2nd release on a major label, he had a major falling out with label heads. This rift actually started much earlier in the recording process for UV. They were pushing cheesy songs for pop and radio play (as evident by some of the song choices that made the album) but Chamillionaire came from a rap scene were being unique, different, and taking risks was rewarded. So naturally he didn't like Universal records interfering with his music. This is why UV, while it has some terrific songs, overall was a letdown for many long term Cham fans. He was disappointed and we were disappointed. The disappointing sales proved this after dominating the charts with his debut album.

After he fought for his release, he went back to the underground where he did his own self promoting. He dropped a few mixtapes and LPs/EPs since leaving universal. None of those releases were mainstream. But there was a time when Cham blew up and was the worlds most popular and known rapper, albeit briefly.

f--- me. I need to learn how to get to the f---ing point. I have a seriously bad habit of posting walls of text that interest no one but myself. I s---.

Haha that's too funny. The semester I took there was back in 2005, I think? I dunno, I'm an old f---. Those years all blend together but I think it was 2005 when I took those classes. I don't remember there being a ton of Indians. There are a ton of Indians in my classes right now at UHD though. Over the past 20 years or so the Indian population has exploded in Houston. Which is fine by me, they have the best cuisine hands down!

No worries, I feel what you meant
I think I was around 12-14 when Ridin Dirty was playing on every kids' phone, sending it to everyone via Bluetooth and s---.

From what I remember tho, everybody knew the song and not the artist. Like the How We Do gem dropped, I don't recall anyone knowing The Game was spittin.
To fix my statement, he could have had a 'better blow up' than that

Ah ok, I'm picking up what you're putting down. Yes that makes perfect sense.

Ridin dirty haha. I haven't thought about that song in at least 10 years, if not longer.

Great album. Can't believe it's been 10 years.

I've said it many times before, Chamillionaire is extremely underated. Never understood why he never reached the same levels as T.I., Drake, Rick Ross and the likes. He has a lot of great music, yet most people only know him for Ridin Dirty.
