Plus there's equipment to rent out if you're independent, it's not the Uber drivers who are at fault, it's the system being so behind.

Dec 9, 2015 They have been forbidden to operate here by court rule (Portugal) because of the unfairness of the situation. I'm guessing regulation should come soon. The way taxis work over here is pretty mafia like too. The whole shady license business, parking spot business etc. is shameful. I say make it easier on everybody and let the customer eliminate the bad service on its own.

Uber does criminal and driving background checks making sure your d--- dealer dave from accounting isn't picking you up. They also include making sure you have sufficient insurance before you can begin working for them. The taxi industry govt regulation is ridiculous and just a money maker. It's not needed. Blaming Uber for finding a loop hole in a crooked business isn't their fault
