Slyk is old school. He thinks police officers are all basically former army rangers, snipers. In reality, our “professional” police just have to get through a 6 week class with barely any firearm training. Im not even sure what police does that results in positive things anymore. They more than likely just started shooting air shots, not having the guts to run down the gunman. Let’s wait for him to go inside and we’ll just stand outside. Cowards. Im not even convinced the police tried a single thing. A border patrol agent ran to the shots to k--- the shooter. All the police assigned to Texas schools needs to be fired.

And the victims families, better sue the h--- out of the school district, city and more. Imagine hiring school officers, like 7 on 1 against a 18 year old kid and you lose the shootout.

Im saying this in contrast to a prominent argument that we need more police officers/officers in schools to prevent shootings like this from occurring. We had that in this instance & it didn’t work. At bare minimum it raises a ton of questions because at least to my knowledge: no officers died. What did these police officers do upon the suspect entering the school? I’ve seen at least one report (though I don’t know if confirmed) that the officers waited outside for back up because they believed the suspect had body armor. Police officers sitting outside while children are gunned down. This isn’t the first time officers may have been complacent to take action in active shooter situations too. A couple years ago an armed school resource officer (I forget where…too many school shootings happen in this d--- country) stood outside during a school shooting until first responders came. I believe he held legally liable as well.

We fund police departments incredible amounts of money to protect our communities & no one talks about how inept & incapable they are in doing so. h---, Capitol police couldn’t even keep a mob of angry trump supporters from storming the *U.S. Congress* not very long ago. It begs the question of what are we spending all this tax payer dollars for; militarizing the h--- out of local police; if they can’t even protect us from prominent threats like mass shooters.

If you ever take I-20 from birmingham to Atlanta you can see one of alabamas biggest culture attractions, the colossal confederate flag advertising "The Dixie Store" on the side of the freeway

The cops who are involved won't have as hard of a life as the parents of the slain children... but their road forward will be rocky and difficult.

I'm sure they all thought they could stop a lone gunmen by themselves to an individual... they probably are all big fans of assault rifles... sure some of them if not all say dumb s--- like, "everyone should have a gun."

Some of them could be huge Alex Jones fans... they might even have friends and family members who will start accusing them of being a part of conspiracy to make gun owners look bad.

And they will always know for fact that they didn't save those kids.

    It's a rude awaking.

^ this is how our exchange started & the only portion that I’ve been in disagreeance (or even in discussion) with you on. You said with confidence that they idly stood by and watched the gunman enter and slaughter the children. If you’re questioning the validity of that statement now, then I’m not sure why it was put forth to begin with.

This exchange has been nothing but a derailment based on speculation of how things played out.

So... there should be a machine gun nest with mounted belt fed M60s and a couple of always on duty operators at every elementary school?

I don’t think we need machine guns, but we should have armed guards at every elementary school. Like a prison essentially.

Fucken h--- aye. Well I dunno about you guys but I'm kinda glad that police showed some hesitation before pumping an 18 yr old full of rounds and killing him. Not sure you'd be so trigger happy to k--- a fucken kid infront of you. Seems totally reasonable they didn't want to k--- a kid till they had no choice/he started shooting kids. Could be wrong. "But he's 18 he's an adult in the eyes of the law" yeah okay, k--- em all then, like I care anyways.

Also can't rly blame mental health, our mental health in Aus is the worst in any first world iirc. We don't have a mass shooting every month.

Economy got f----- up by the liberal government for about 10 yrs handing out tax cuts to wealthy/internationals and raising the cost of living to levels not seen since the great depression. Something like that.

Just how expensive is it nowadays? I live in an expensive a--- area so just curious. One bedroom rentals (if you can find one) go for $2500 USD. Median price for a single family home is $900,000 USD. 2 bed 2 bath condos are $450,000 USD

    Median household income is $60,000

Do you understand that the Republican Party (American Conservatives) are the political equivalent of the AUS Liberal Party and the Democratic Party ( American Liberals) are the political equivalent of the AUS Labor Party?

I don’t skate so I don’t know what a good skate park entails. I imagine we have some great ones in the US though.
