Still not convinced that it is. It's more accessible, but not better.

    Could only listen one time.
But s--- is incredible. Came close to Pinata but still not there. It's like Bandana (9.3/10) and Pinata (9.5/10).

Production is still nice. A couple beats could've been a little better but I'm not mad. Sample usage is insane. I absolutely love how they gave a nod to our Indian Bollywood music via 2 samples. Dude really made the old Bollywood songs I hate sound absolutely godly. Drums are knocking hard.

Freddie did a fantastic job as an MC. Brilliant punchlines and wordplay. His flow and how he switches it is phenomenal and his delivery is badass.

One more album like this and they'll be the greatest hip hop duo ever. I want some more Bollywood samples in future.

I feel like their next album will be a GOAT level effort. Even though these 2 albums are 'classics' they lack the 'centrepiece anthem' of a song or two which makes an album GOAT status. Sorta like Daytona last year, superb but lacked that all-time classic song to go down in history.

    For example:
    MBDTF had "Runaway"
    Stankonia had "Miss Jackson"
The Black Album had "99 Problems/PSA"
    2001 had "Still DRE"

I'd say Thuggin is Pinata's centrepiece anthem in all honesty.

This one is a bit harder to pinpoint, but Fake Names, Practice and Cataracts are all worthy of going down as the centrepiece anthem in due time. Palmolive even.

Not to discredit Madlib, he's one of the best producers ever but coming from the underground scene he probably ain't too bothered about making a classic b-----r. Saying that Thuggin was one of the highlights of Pinata.
If Madlib was working with more mainstream artists then I think he'd be producing more 'radio friendly' bangers. Mainstream artists careers depend on a b-----r. it drives the industry. Not saying you can't make a classic without a b-----r, clearly, Madgibbs got 2 but to be on that Kanye level they've gotta crossover with some 'centrepiece anthems'.

    I'd give Pinata 9.1 and Bandana 9.3
