Oh yeah it’s great for their base but like...those people are already voting Trump. They gotta persuade voters & I don’t think “Biden will listen to the scientists on the #1 issue you guys care about most!” is persuading many swing voters.

    In unrelated news, AOC >>>

    Dear U.S. Citizens

Whatever happens or whoever wins, I wish y'all are getting through November without a civil war.
The U.S. politics have become extremely polarized since the last election, showing the flaws of a system relying on two parties.
Before this legislature opinions inside the parties were much more diverse, now you somehow got into a state where you're forced to just run with the slogan of what your party is saying or dumb it down to emotional platitudes (partly because of the lessened attention span of consumers).
In my opinion what the U.S. population and the major parties need to discuss is a change of constitution. You need to diversify your political landscape, as mentioned before, we see what's happening now with the radicalization of both parties, this is not only toxic for the people themselves, but also hinders one to find a consesus-based way to solve problems.
Split your major parties or create new grassroot movements catering to specific problems which people then can find a common denominator to participate.
Also, I'd highly recommend replacing the executive head of state/president with several positions, each one specializing in a field, taking over the executive position for the respective departement.
They'd be either voted by the people or through the United States Congress.
This council of head of states then together votes on executive orders on the federal level, leaving party interests aside to find a common consensus (this may also help the divide caused by the great geographical distances in the U.S. territory and therefore diverting opinions).
(Hikey thinking I'd probably get lynched by a lot of people suggesting this ideas)

    About the Covid thing:
Over here in Europe cases are rising fast again and even if you think your young and can handle 'that flue', I tell you this virus may be no joke for your fellow human beings.
Everyone has a different immune system and especially for elderly and disabled people, as well as people with chronic conditions, it can get lethal real quick.
Also we still don't know the longterm effects. I personally know of 5 young people though that have had it and two of them, not all of them of course, saying that they still feel somewhat of a pressure on their lungs/have trouble breathing sometimes, even months after. IC units are slowly starting to get overfilled again and the health care staff who's been working relentlessly since month (as well as care/social workers in general, it sucks to work with a mask on and also the restrictions in social interactions) don't get any fresher, they've been under heavy pressure all this time.
We have to keep numbers low, show solidarity, wear your mask when it's necessary, try to help the people that are in need of it, minimize social interaction and stop confusing your false proudness with a fight for freedom.
We're all in this together, my individual freedom ends where the freedom of the other begins and where my own actions could cause harm to people.

Not being an independent senator. Being a Democratic Senator with a focus on pulling the party platform to the left while leaving all the theatrical “Democrats are beholden to corporate money!!” out of it. It’s less about what Sanders hasn’t done & more so what he has done that ultimately f----- his opportunity to win the nomination in 2016 & 2020.

The # of Trump voters that voted for him because of economic anxiety is a bit exaggerated. There have been some studies on this & while the voters who tipped the election in his favor (say Obama voters turned Trump voters in rust belt states) may have felt some kind of economic anxiety but ultimately most republicans voted for him because he was a Republican & eventually, Republican leadership got behind him too. Voters often turn blind eyes to candidate flaws if they share the same partisan identity or they morph their views to make those “flaws” fall in line with their beliefs. Look at all the evangelicals that proudly support Trump.

A working white man has a two coins... a poor minority has one coin.

A rich banker has 1,000,000 coins.

The banker turns to the white workingman and says "hey, you better watch out!
... that minority is trying to take one of your coins."

@reservoirGod what was the term you labeled a lot of the working class to poor Republicans who have no real reason to vote for that Party but did so anyways because they think they'll eventually be rich? Millionaire Derangement Syndrome or something?

I disagree. While his base certainly voted based on white identity, I think the more moderate republicans fell behind him in spite of that. He won the general in 2016 by tapping into economic frustration and manufacturing loss, with tons of false promises. To about 30% of Trump voters, Build the Wall was about keeping brown people out, but to the rest of them it was about keeping work with Americans. I think one of the reasons he's doing so bad atm is he is campaigning on that white identity more than economic relief and coronavirus recovery.

but these are just wishy-washy platitudes; what would be an example of an independent senator “working within the framework of the party” more than caucusing with them for decades and joining their party for presidential races, including after he loses the nomination? lol

He tapped into white anxiety & racial amnesty that’s been brewing in the Republican Party for a while now. Both parties have very different voters bases but Trump hit all the right notes & partisans rallied behind him.

The problem with the social media age is people think their fringe politics are way more popular than they actually are because of their small circle injecting it into their feeds - then complain when the popular choice wins and claim it's rigged and everyone they don't support sucks. I'm a progressive, but I'm also pragmatic and Joe Biden is the most progressive presidential candidate ever.

It's hard to tell. I working 100 hours a week with guys who have been listening to talk radio and watching foxnews since before the Iraq War and have cult like devotion to the Republican Party as a whole and where Trump hats... sucks because they are good dudes other than that... just hypnotized by Republican Entertainment.

So, anecdotally I wouldn't think Al Gross would have a chance... but if he does... it would be greatly do to the other Republican machine The Lincoln Project which has helped Alaskan Anti-Republican candidates more than the DNC has in 25 years.

PA is weird. Like the majority of my town has Biden signs up, but there’s a large number of pennsyltucky hicks that are huge Trump people. And that’s just in the greater Philadelphia area where things are actually normal. Once you escape here, there’s nothing but freaks in this state.
