    What I don't get is the lack of fact-checks or the candidates at least being asked to actually answer the questions. What's the point of a debate and moderators if they can just keep talking s--- about golf?

    It's theater/entertainment honestly, 90% of people watch for comedy/memeable moments not to be informed. If legitimate debate skills won elections neither of these guys would have made it through the primaries in the past lol

    not possible unless biden kicks the can because he 100% isn't dropping out, they can't force him out and he said he wasn't dropping out the very next day and wanted a september debate

    again, let's not forget the theater of it all..last time I saw CNN this confident, they were calling on Clinton to win the 2016 election..the least likely outcome is the most possible outcome so I anticipate a biden death or a potential biden win

    The Clinton confidence was backed up by data too, after the election as well given she got far more votes, it just failed considering electoral college bs. Considering how unpopular both were, it didn't seem that crazy for Donald to win. 2020 seemed even more predictable. Now though … basically anything is in the cards.

    There is a lot of pressure on an internal level to replace Biden, but I think it should be noted that the lines have been drawn, and a bad debate performance isn’t going to make or break either campaign.

    Biden has somewhat managed to make lemonade out of the entire thing. I think as more time passes it becomes less likely that he’ll be replaced.

    This assumes Biden is a sentient human being with any personal power/authority which seems absurd, unless you mean his administration/puppet masters and think they are separate from the DNC and are fighting an internal battle against the DNC? I think it all being for show makes the most sense, to create public support/legitimacy for removing Biden from the ticket. Whoever they replace him with automatically has overwhelming support because the debate served the purpose of setting everyone up to be like “anything is better than these two”. It’s all so perfect
