Aug 23, 2020 inspired by @Donkey Kong Cuntry and @Worm's exchange in the other thread, who got who best? vote. also remember when 50 tried to sue rick over sampling in da club lol.
Aug 23, 2020 I think it was suing Rozay for him using In Da Club instrumental on his mixtape, not sampling, I may be wrong tho
Aug 23, 2020 Why is this even a debate? Lol. 50 is light years ahead of Ross. 50 is a natural born talent at making good records and has classics to prove it and lived the life he rapped about. Ross is mediocre af whose artists below him are way better than him. Ross is a actor first and foremost then a rapper. 50 is the exact opposite and in a different league. But that’s just me.
Aug 23, 2020 nah he's asking who won their beef. The guy who just called 50 "Donkey" or the guy who took Ross's baby mother and son on a shopping spree
Aug 23, 2020 I was in 8th grade when GRODT dropped and I’ve still never in my 30 years of life seen another album impact the game like he did with that album.
Aug 23, 2020 It debuted second behind Recovery, which was still hitting #1 two months after its release lol. Teflon Don sold more than his previous album both first week and overall and is his most acclaimed album to this day. Also, Before I Self Destruct came out like two months before the beef and he was already talking about SKI like a year later—not like he was really out of the game at that point. Maybe what Winter said is more what I mean: Cuz I definitely remember Officer Ricky more than Ross's diss, but at the end of the day Ross went on to have debatably the best year of his career thus far with Teflon Don and placements on MBDTF. To me it seemed like grasping at relevance for 50 which made it feel kinda pathetic to me. I always felt like 50's plan sorta backfired cuz more people were taking about Ross than they had been in a couple years and clearly no one cared about the CO thing when his album dropped or when they heard his MBDTF verses. Cuz it's just like...ok cool, 50 said meaner/funnier things about Ross in the moment (that didn't really affect his career), but he (still) hasn't made a good album since 2005, so who cares?
Aug 23, 2020 I liked Teflon Don, but it was literally carried by features. That doesn't show confidence in one's work. Looking now it looks like the intro is the only track without one. 50 was already in a decline before this beef. This did nothing to his career imo. I think 50 outsold him with BISD as well....not 100% on that though
Aug 23, 2020 Hmm, I while I feel that both careers diverged in different directions, feels like 50 has that I made the better album argument that sort of settles the dust for me personally. His contributions even before GRODT cements him as one of the greats, paradigm shifting mixtapes and a rapping style that went on to be duplicated for awhile. Although it needs to be said Ross has the more consistent body of work though. I'm sorry Big Country, but my bias got in the way here
Aug 23, 2020 Eh, I'm not even that big of a Ross fan, but he's always had tons of features—I think Teflon Don or Rich Forever will go down as his best body of work. imo Ross knows his limitations as a rapper and is good at picking beats he sounds good over as well as guest artists that compliment the song.
Aug 23, 2020 it's OK if it was macklemore in the beef u know i'd have to hold it down for the 206 like you do NYC
