Aug 24, 2020 I mean Ross clearly used 50 as a lay up, there’s 2 angles you can look at it from: 1. Easy promo as no matter 50’s trajectory at the time, still a household name that will attract attention no matter what so to clown him is a W & strategic marketing, it’s a dirty business game that 50 isn’t shy to after all. 2. Taking the easy route to promo by using 50’s clout to sell your own records because you can’t generate a buzz that size yourself so you need to kick a man while he’s down to big yourself up. When you look at the beef itself, in a vacuum, it’s clear to see that it did backfire for Ross even if he did succeed in sales.
Aug 25, 2020 Numbers do lie. 50 has moved more units but Ross has had more number one albums. 50 made more money rapping than Ross did, but most of that in a short space of time when sales were up and Ross wasn't even active. Ross won't move GRODT units but nobody will. He's had a respectable career and maintained success over many years at this point. MMG has had 7 #1 albums to date apparently. I'm not a Rick Ross fan by any stretch, never listened to an album of his tbh, but he's done very well. 4/5 of Fif's albums went plat. Don't forget Animal Ambition (though who remembers that). Massive downward trajectory. If he put out albums through the 2010's there is no way 50 is going platinum like he used to. And he knows it. I respect 50 as a money man, not so much a rapper. His biggest achievement was getting Trump-money, where you can go bankrupt and stay rich. Like you said, he makes money trolling on instagram. The guy is a born and bred hustler. I think he is comfortable where he is.
Aug 25, 2020 I know it's counted as an album, but Animal Ambition was a glorified mixtape he pushed for promo. I don't really count that. I agree he is more than comfortable where he is now
Aug 25, 2020 I agree with everything except 50 falling off musically. That didn't happen. What did happen was Jimmy Iovine(and to an extent Dre) had the guy blacked balled and threatened to blackball any producers/rappers that worked with him. That’s the reason for the lack of music. The exception is Eminem who is too big to be told anything... BUT... there's a reason they haven't officially done anything in over a decade. I love Rick Ross but at the end of the day I feel that I'm The Man is better than any song Ross has put out since 2010.
Aug 26, 2020 5 votes for Ross? so i post on a website that is shared by 5 vagina-between-legs wielding fa---- c----? or what? also you dipshits dont know how legal cases work. "OH MY GOD! 50 GOT NOTHING FOR IN DA CLUB ON ROSS MIXTAPE LMAO LLLLL!" no you fucken idiots. 50 has too much money. he can throw it away. Ross pretends he does. the legal costs were far more damaging to Ross than 50. Hence why Ross is still pumping out fucken s--- c---- albums to remake his lost finacnes while 50 is doing whatever the f--- he wants without care of the risks involved, in literally any industry/platform he wants.
Aug 26, 2020 Music aside, 50 Cent will always be my favorite hip hop personality. Regardless 50 > Rick Ross
Aug 26, 2020 50 won the beef in the moment and if you look at everything that happened but in the end he did almost 0 damage to Ross’ career and nobody gives a s--- about his lack credibility that 50 exposed
Aug 27, 2020 If 50 puts something out in future, I'm low-key hoping for another 50/Kanye release date battle. It would be an interesting rematch.
Aug 30, 2020 most likely cause 50 got pissed Dre never promoted him with his own line of beats. Then 50 came out with his own headphone line which I think pissed dre off and he talked s--- about Jimmy Iovine and I'm pretty sure he was black balled cause of that I'm from 134th street, I ain't got no motherfucking boss!
Aug 30, 2020 I don't know about blackballed. 50's beef with Iovine/Interscope no doubt had its ramifications, but it seems like an awfully convenient excuse for an artist who struggled to maintain commercial success. 50 was still on the label when he stopped being able to put out hit singles. Getting out of the deal didn't help him either. How many potential singles were there for SKI? He wasn't blackballed then, with Dre beats, collabs, even an Eminem feature with a video for "My Life". None of these blew up, and that doesn't read as blackballed to me, that reads as nobody gave a f---.
