I like reading/watching reviews because they provide different perspectives from my own. Plus sometimes they point things out that I missed. I'm always interested to see broad critical response to an album, just like I'm always interested to see sales figures, just like I'm interested to see the response on the forums and twitter. Those don't in any way detract from my own enjoyment of the music, but it gives interesting perspective, a little added context. But hey no ones holding a gun to your head. You can do whatever you want lol.

another note on that - have you ever taken the time to read through HHDX comment section? It's a dust-head d-ck-sucking contest, that somehow often devolves into a 4chan-like racist alt-right message board. They're so insulated in their little corner of the world that they despise almost everything that comes out that doesn't conform to their standards. I like SXN80 because we have diverse tastes and interests and theres often interesting debates and conversations - a lot of members here dont listen to music in a vacuum, they're interested in the broader picture. but again, thats just my perspective.

Mostly it's the civilized discussion/atmosphere that seriously makes me appreciate this small slice of the internet, sure every now and then there's some stupid s--- on here but it pales in comparison to what you'll find anywhere else. I swear scroll through twitter, or better yet any of the big social media outlets, just to observe people that look like they haven't evolved from Cro-Magnons yet

Why would anyone be so opposed to reviews? Is it insecurity? I read reviews and agree and disagree with s--- they say just like I do with ppl here, but a different perspective is appreciated. Especially from someone who's so passionate about music they decide to make a career out of it. Doesn't mean I give it more weight it's just interesting to read.

Also why is ur name shadyslim? It's 2018

h--- no you getting me wrong.

Of course I want different perspectives. I read reviews myself, of course I do. What I'm referring to though is those who obsess over reviews and use them as a metric for personal acceptance. If you don't take what you've just read with a pinch of salt to a degree, then your being influenced waaaay too much by what some other random dude thinks, who you've probably got nothing in common whatsoever with besides the fact that he/she already listened to the same album that you are considering checking out yourself.

It's one thing to read reviews and to gauge a general consensus. It's a whole new level of fuckery though to allow one person to mould your opinion as if your not capable of forming your own, and it just goes to show that some people have real issues when it come to thinking for themselves.

Reviews can only do so much for me TBH. I'm not gonna give too much credence to pack of reviews shi--ing on a specific album for example when I've perhaps heard half the tracks already, especially if I enjoyed what I heard! Because musical taste is so subjective, there's only so much weight someone else's opinion can really carry. I don't care how eloquent your comprehension skills are. If you live by that logic d---, you're gonna miss out on a f--- load of superb music/theatre/tv/ literature.

If People wanna use a Thesaurus to find a smart a--- way to say 'the album was awesome and the cadence is very original on track 4' to make themselves feel like they important and that Billboard should be hiring them and paying them fortunes, then I hope it makes them feel better about themselves. That's cool.

Personally f--- that s--- though. Whether is be a Narsh review, or some pitchfork bs or whatever. I couldn't care less in general (no offense really meant here to Narsh personally, I've no problem with him whatsoever I'm merely generalising from some of the gay s--- I've read on here in the past few months)
That's the difference. Read a review sure. Enjoy it even. Don't go becoming a bigger fan of the reviewer though than you are of the actual artist on some real corny obsessive s---!!

We've all got opinions, every one of us. I've never personally so far in my life been egotistical enough though to try and convince other people around the world that my opinion should be one you take on board and ride with though, but hey I guess everyone needs attention.

I don't need a load of fanboys to follow my every word and a blog with synonyms I've googled, copied and pasted to make me sound smarter than I actually am.

That's what messaged boards are for. By all means though if you are a Blog critic who takes themselves seriously enough to catch feelings about my post.....then unlucky for you.

I'm sure you'll get over it eventually.

Just write a new review. It'll make you feel better I bet.
