Aug 30, 2020 I remember this aftermath insider who posted on dubcnn.com back in 2010. He was like: "There are 2 complete versions of Detox. One was done with Bishop Lamont, it had heavy beats and was deep when it came to the topics. And the other one was done when Bishop left. It was more pop-ish, because Dre got influenced by the stuff that was playing on the radio."
Aug 30, 2020 Lol I actually used to talk to Bishop Lamont on my Studio Leaks twitter. I'll have to try to get into that account. In the meantime I want to say that he said Dre wanted "You Ain't Fresh" as the lead single for Detox.
Sep 2, 2020 I believe you are right about that. If I recall, Bishop played 'You Ain't Fresh' live and claimed it was a Detox single. That's how I heard about it. He also threw a diss to Game on there, some line about him name dropping like he's reading a phonebook.
Sep 2, 2020 Yeah I remember that video. I want to say it was from late 2008. I asked him and he confirmed
Sep 2, 2020 Ha cool. The beat was ridiculous tbf. Bishop got a ton of great beats. He was always really active online as well, which makes it kind of baffling to me that he fell off the radar so hard. Never heard this version. The 'Chicks' dub is hilarious. I think Bishop has several great projects, including the one this track is on, but man... nothing aged worse than myspace references.
