Don’t mean to be annoying but find very funny that Jay Z said “My accountant so good I’m almost living tax free’

"Socialist" ideas like Medicare for All are popular with 60-70% of the population. Not "millennials" lol.

You're already paying for s--- like healthcare if you have it at all. A public option will make it more affordable. Also, the taxes proposed by AOC for instance will only be an increase for earners over $10 million a year up to 70%. That's not coming out of your pocket. it's coming out of the account of the executive at whatever company you work for who pays you a fraction of your labor value while pocketing the rest. The US had tax rates that high throughout the 1930s-1960s. Those rates fell, and the wealth is more concentrated in fewer hands than ever.

Public healthcare exists all over the world. The US is paying more for worse outcomes than anybody. To think everyday working stiffs have been so inundated with propaganda that they'd rather starve the poor than tax the rich is disheartening to say the least. How you can defend the powerful while chiding the powerless is beyond me. It's frankly evil.

70% tax rate would be great because government programs are handled so well. Government should run everything because it’s so efficient and effective. They don’t f--- up anything or waste any money at all.

Yes, a stooge for capital. That’s it exactly. Government is so efficient. Do away with the private sector completely and let government save us all!

This forum is scary. No one would ever work if 70-90% of their year is worked for free. I love the people who hate trump bc he’s rich but then support “for the people” three mansion Bernie who has only ever earned any money through taxes and bribes, hence why people like him want more taxes!!! Yay line our idols Pockets more!! Idiots...

Yeah, I hate having an accountable power structure too. I much prefer to be at the whim of the guy with the most money. Works great. Thanks Mr. Economics.

    Lot to unpack here fam

    Accountable power structure???? LOL

The rich man keeping you down apparently. But not the one who answers to shareholders, employees, regulators, or investors. The other one who makes decisions on a whim to keep you down. Your situation is obviously someone else’s fault and they should save you.

Shareholders and investors are just other rich tyrants lol
Employees hold employers accountable? Ah, sweet summer child
Regulators? I wish. Maybe we wouldn't have had that pesky mortgage crisis. Regulatory capture is a thing.

Lol @ accusing me of deflecting responsibility when you're just placing the blame on different people.

i don't get the american reflex to see "the private sector" as more effective/benevolent/efficient than the government, when we have decades and decades of evidence that that's not remotely the case

You seem to have a deep understanding of financial markets and how business works in general. This is a very intelligent comment. All the rich tyrants with their fancy pension funds at their blue collar jobs that are invested in the stock market. Those capitalists are destroying America.
Guess you’ve never heard of unions.
Wow, what a fancy quip. Can you explain what exactly happened during the financial crisis? All those “big bad companies” and “lax regulations” so the 1% could destroy America, huh? Disregard the regulations and laws in place and refer to one instance you likely don’t even understand.
That’s the whole premise of the 70% tax rate, right? Take from the rich and give to the poor. Let them solve your problem - they make too much money and you deserve some of it.

The top tax bracket was taxed at +70% between the years of 1936 and 1980... including years when rich people paid up to 94%.

    So you want me to:

    1) Explain a critique of capitalism that has been around for 200 years
    2) Explain why being pro-market makes you anti-union
    3) Explain the 2008 financial crisis to you
    4) Explain how Robin Hood was actually the good guy

You're going in the gulag, bud. Not worth the time.

Why don’t you try responding to each instance where I destroyed your weak, untrue and misguided argument.

“Investors and shareholders are just other rich tyrants” lmao

You said employers don’t answer to employees, I mentioned unions, you mention something totally off topic because you look stupid.

You don’t understand what happened in the 2008 financial crisis and you don’t think companies answer to regulators... just factually wrong.

You can think a 70% tax rate is warranted, free country, but at least admit that you’re basically asking the wealthy to fix your money problems.
