Jun 15, 2017 anybody who's studied 2pac might not be overly impressed by this film, personally I'm just glad he finally got his own movie. But someone needs to make a 2pac movie for die hard fans, surely most of us wouldn't have a problem sitting through 3+ hours if it's done right.
Jun 15, 2017 form your own opinion, it's by no means a bad movie. there's just things you can nitpick on, just like any other biopic.
Jun 15, 2017 Since I'm a huge Pac fan I already know there's gonna be a few things that annoy me or that I don't think were done well such as some of the things I mentioned last page, but overall I'm expecting to really like it. Demetrius seems to do a great job as Pac according to what pretty much everyone said. Plus it'll probably be one of the last big Pac related things we ever get. I'm excited that I finally get to see it today.
Jun 15, 2017 Well f---, reviews aren't looking too good...Early 20% score on rotten tomatoes, although that's only 5 reviews. But also a few Pac fans on this forum I was checking out didn't like it. Here's one of their posts explaining some of the reasons, there are some spoilers: Spoiler 1. It jumps from scene to scene like its rushing to get the the deathrow era 2. There is no new music, they use literally like 5 Pac songs, california love, keep your head up, so many tears, hit em up and only god can judge me oh and of course Hail mary performed live which i never recall being performed live, correct me if im wrong. 3. Every scene Pac is literally shouting or proving to make a point, they literally never give you a chance to fall in love with character. 4. Somehow all the clips leading up to the film are literally the best parts and at best just fillers there is no real scenes give the chance to really get to know Pac as the person he deserves. 5. The character that plays biggie played his part well but looked old and tired. 6. Literally each scene was like 45 secs long, the second you start to actually enjoy the scene it then skips to city landscape and you skipped 2 years of Pac life. 7.The song they play when he gets shot, i feel like im a sunday mass, I dont feel for his character just bad that another black male dies in this crazy world of ours. 8. Pacs mum was literally the only thing that keeps this movie remotley going but even she gets faded out quick. 9. The filming i feel is B grade, they had 2 views close and not close Some of these things are definitely a bit discouraging..
Jun 16, 2017 Honestly I was a little disappointed, for hardcore Pac fans there probably won't be a lot there. It covers all the basics, but not much else and doesn't give you much of a feel for Pac the person. You also don't feel nearly as connected to Pac's character as you should be, and there's a few instances where it seems forced or awkward..There's also a few instances where Pac flat out looks like a p----, which wouldn't be the case in real life. Demetrius did the best job he could and there's some good scenes and other good acting as well, but I don't know...it just didn't really make a huge mark on me. Some ladies behind me were talking loud as f--- throughout half the movie, maybe that threw me off too, I don't know..I might even see it again, catch a few things I missed..But it was nothing amazing. 7/10 I guess, maybe 8/10 tops if I'm feeling generous. Covered the basics and did alright all things considered, but didn't really make the impact it should have and they should have shown more behind the scenes type stuff..It also felt rushed at times.
Jun 16, 2017 Bout to go see this in a bit, it is a bit discouraging to see the disappointment surrounding this release especially when you consider it's about such a massive legacy like Pac. I'll share my thoughts when I come back
Jun 17, 2017 I'm not much of a movie connoisseur so I can't give it a proper objective review, but I was entertained...but I do see why it isn't garnering the acclaim a Pac Biopic deserves. Spoiler There's not a lot of breathing space and it tries to cram a whole lot in, I had to explain every part to my cousin since there wasn't much depth in the movie. It's understandable, Pac's life is honestly such a roller coaster that it's difficult squeezing in every major detail but I feel they didn't know how to do it properly. Just my 2 cents, but boy does his music knock even after all these years. Still had to hold back tears anytime I hear Dear Mama
Jun 17, 2017 It's definitely better than that one, at least for me. Not better than straight outta Compton though.
Jun 17, 2017 I just got back from seeing it. I enjoyed it. *As discretion, I'm not a big Tupac connoisseur*
