Dec 22, 2018 Since 2005, Gucci and Zay have influenced the entire sound of rap music. Scratch that, of popular music. You can hear elements of their sound everywhere. They've both gone platinum multiple times, Zaytoven has a Grammy and they both have millions of fans around the world. Many of Gucci's projects and songs are considered vital hip hop classics. Gucci also contributed to revolutionising the way music is released and consumed. The man was in prison and was still releasing a mixtape a month. If thats not iconic, i dont know what is You certainly dont have to like them but you cannot deny their influence, the magnitude of their respective catalogs or their dedication to their craft. Of course they havent sold as many records as OutKast or got the same critical acclaim. but that doesnt make them any less iconic.
Dec 22, 2018 His music and style is pretty unique to me. If that's not unique then what's unique about Gucci ? There are many like him. What u don't get is you can't decide what's impressive for others. I don't find gucci impressive at all. U might find it that's ok. But u say he and Zay are iconic duo. How so ? I have never heard anybody calling them iconic duo. I don't think many would say they are neither so how is that a fact, you just like them a lot and think they are dope, that doesn't make it iconic. That's why I gave the Yela example. I could give the Joyner example or maybe Boogie, even Travis Scott they are not iconic but I think they are dope h--- many would think they are dope but how are they iconic ? There is a reason OutKast were an iconic duo...
Dec 22, 2018 what are you not getting about this? when Gucci came out in 2005 NOBODY sounded like him. 15 years later and everyone sounds like him. what does that tell you?
Dec 22, 2018 I'm not saying anything to Zaytoven. Gucci doesn't even has a hit I guess, How did he change the rap ? Releasing music in prison ? What does this have to do with musical legacy ? I never heard any rapper saying Gucci was a influence for him what are u talkiN' about ? Millions of fans for Gucci huh ? 6 million followers on Twitter I'm surprised and 18 millions of monthly listener. Guess I was underestimating his fame but still no where near iconic lol. Eminem is iconic, Jay Z is iconic, 50 Cent is, Kanye is, Wayne is, T Pain is. Name one real rapper influenced by Gucci and acknowledging it. Yes they haven't sold as much as Outkast nor they had as much fans as OutKast. I don't even care the critics anyway. But this does make him less iconic. Zaytoven alone might be real argument point if he is an icon for hip hop or not but Gucci ?? No f---in' way.
Dec 22, 2018 there wouldnt be zay without gucci probably no mike will made it the biggest rap group right now was LITERALLY brought up and influenced by gucci.. one of the songs on the compilation was tributed by migos on culture 2 young thug and rich homie quan were brought up by gucci gucci was one of the first together with lil wayne to start really utilizing dropping digital mixtapes which is now a HUGE part of rap gucci is an acknowleged icon in the scene and youre just too dumb or ignorant to understand that f---ing yelawolf has brought up no one and his music isnt groundbreaking at all... his label debut was literally a bland attempt of trying to make corny hits for the sake of making them
Dec 22, 2018 you're joking right? just off the top of my head Waka Flocka Flame Chief Keef Lil Uzi Vert Lil Yachty Migos 21 Savage Future Young Thug Rich Homie Quan Young Dolph Kodak Black Those are some of the biggest names of the past 8 years. and there are countless others. I'm pretty certain all of these have stated, on record, that they were influenced by Gucci Mane. And even if not, how can you not hear it? Gucci even made a song about it. Never mind the fact that without Gucci you wouldn't have Mike Will, Zaytoven and Metro Boomin. But yeah ok focus on Gucci's twitter followers. I'm sure f---in KRS-One and Rakim have way more.
Dec 22, 2018 Ok. Didn't know mumble rap found by Gucci Mane. Thanks you are right he is officially an icon lol.
Dec 22, 2018 Btw, that list doesN't proves anything. I might count the rappers I hve influenced. Eminem lil Wayne Joyner Lucas Where is the proof tho ? Did any of those guys actually said that they were inspired by Gucci ?
Dec 23, 2018 you joke but this is exactly the point i'm making. Like it or not, he's the founding father of what you call 'mumble rap'. Mate, read what I wrote. Do a quick google search for 'rappers influenced by Gucci Mane' and see for yourself.
Dec 23, 2018 i don't care enough to search about it really. But I hear Lil Wayne on most of those mumble rappers but they are not saying s--- they are just mumbling most of the time unlike Wayne.
Jan 3, 2019 STOP USING THE TERM MUMBLE RAP! Let that s--- die in 2018. Pigeonholing s--- with titular conclusiveness that is both premature and contrived. Come up with something different. Not all of these f---s mumble. Some of 'em just have speech impediments or idiosyncratic ways they tweak and inflectionally modify how they present, deliver, and execute certain words to create a refreshing rhyme scheme. Phonic-Focused or Melodiously-Prioritized Innovation being treated as the primary matter of concern these new sensations intend to convey when they step in the booth. I guess Biz Markie and ODB were mumble rappers because they played with pronunciation and verbal toning/pitching. Y'all n----s lazy. Stfu. And how the f--- is Radric Davis irrelevant when you came to a thread regarding him and made it to the third page, just to say that dumb s---? @DontKnow Eminem fans are literally worse than ICP fans used to be. *Shudders* Cringe-inducing as f--- at every turn. They breathe and I feel sorry for their parents that they felt obligated to not abort them. You know their parents regret that s--- in hindsight.
