The best rap albums award is fundamentally an award the Grammys themselves don't respect or view as legitmate, it just exists so they get attention from rap fans. The fact that the Grammys are able to blatantly disrespect rap and honestly black ppl in general and still be respected is crazy

Feb 12, 2019 I also feel like Rap is totally separate from other genres in terms of writing rules. Rap is celebrated (or at least was originally) for lyrics and battling. Pop stars, rock stars, etc can all have writers for the artist and it's not really looked at as a bad thing, but with Rap you have to write your own music.
