Feb 1, 2017 Both dropped in 2016. Two different types of projects, with Malibu having a collage of sounds ranging from funk/soul/neo-soul/rnb/hip hop while Yes Lawd! had an eclectic lo-fi/jazzy vibe to it. If you asked me this question sometime last year I would've went with the NxWorries album. I've always liked both but at that time I preferred the production and smoothness of Yes Lawd! a heck of a lot more. However, lately I've found myself truly appreciating Malibu. It's just a solid front to back listen and it's just infectious. People say .Paak gets gassed up a lot but there's good reason as to why. Free Nationals album this year coming soon as well so he knows how to feed his fans. Which album you got? @Fire Squad, @Goldy, @threee, @Changeling, @Radeem, @Cunner, @Meero, @Mow, @otherPaakfans
Feb 1, 2017 Both albums were solid as but I'm not a big fan of the snippet sort of style that yes lawd has. Also love the live instrumentation songs on malibu That said suede >>>>>
Feb 1, 2017 Yes Lawd is like an appetizer and leaves you wanting more. It's a tease. Malibu is like a main course it left us satisfied.
Feb 1, 2017 I still miss you To answer OP, both in a vacuum were some of my favorite stuff to drop last year. The dust head in me wants to say Yes Lawd! just cause the sequencing is so good but Malibu is so genre-bending and interesting...I'd have to say Malibu for me just because it managed to fulfill its ambition for the most part and I hope it's a sign that Paak will continue making feel good groovy music.
Feb 1, 2017 Not really into malibu yes lawd was a lil less than j expected but some jams on there I gotta go w/ YL
Feb 1, 2017 i dig yes lawd but i wish the songs were longer because i cant really pick single songs to jam to, you almost have to listen all the way through. malibu is just the perfect project and it's insane that it's been over a year now and i still listen on a weekly basis.
Feb 2, 2017 I'm in a minority but I really prefer yes lawd and basically, this could be my argument for it. I love albums with short songs especially if you go through them so effortlessly like on yes lawd!. Every track makes me more hungry for the rest.
