Changes made. Have at it...

The homepage works like this:

1. the latest album to be featured will be shown in "featured"
2. artists that you follow appear in "following", along with the last post info in that sxn
3. the rest of the sections appear in "sxns", along with the last post info in that sxn
4. click/tap "latest posts" to see the OG 3.0 homepage feed... tbd, but i might make the option (yes, a f---ing option) to make latest posts the default instead of the new traditional view
   1. there will NOT be a way to only show threads with UNREAD posts. this is the trade-off. sorry to those who preferred that before
5. there's a setting in the gearbox icon to choose which view (OG 3.0 or the new feed) to make as your default. the standard is the new sxns view

I’m happy slash anxious to pull the lid off of something that’s been in the works for some time now. JMG will be joining myself & @DKC as the newest Admin of SXN80.

I’m guessing that this decision won’t come without scrutiny and/or backlash from the community, but I assure you that this has been a very well calculated decision behind the scenes and that @Staff have been well involved throughout the process.

When the site first launched, it was myself, Hasman, & Koolo. Me, the nerd slash s-----y poster; Hasman, the level-ish headed site runner; and Koolo, the hype horn that sparked attention and knew how to increase activity and outreach.

I’m still a s-----y poster. DKC has been the new Hasman. And we’ve been lacking the much needed new Koolo to help drive more traffic/activity/users to the site. This made the decision a no-brainer.

The Lifetime Achievement Award winner is undoubtably the best poster that D12/SL/SXN80/The Internet has ever had, and if even an inkling of that rolls into his role as admin, then we’re going to be in a great spot moving forward.

JMG has proposed some changes that I’m excited about, but I’ll let him reveal those at his own discretion/timeline.

Hey guys.

I've heard time and time again that many of y'all don't think I'm doing enough to grow the forum. Please know that that's 1000% not the case. I'm confident that I put more time into here than any other forum owner ever will. There's been a lot of work that's gone into keeping this place afloat that I haven't made public that's taken me well over a couple hundred hours to work through in just these past 6 months (FYI, these have all been resolved at this point), not to mention the ongoing development updates to give y'all want you want from a functional side...

That said, building a house is easy, but it's admittedly much more difficult to get people to stick around for the party. And despite my personal + staff's efforts, I need help. So I'm casting a wide net. We've done public brainstorming sessions in the past on how to grow the forum and get new active members/discussion. Some of those ideas have gone into place (mixtapes, compilations, original content, requiring sign-ups after X views or after viewing initial post, social media efforts, contests for sign-up referrals, etc.), while others didn't make the cut. Clearly, we need fresh ideas. Other forums continue to thrive + new ones have emerged, showing promise of success. Yet our activity continues to decline. I'm not blind to our struggles and help is needed.

If you're here, it's because you're still with us, and I can't thank you enough for remaining loyal to the community. But I need help. Please use this thread to post any well-thought out suggestions. If you can personally contribute, then all the better.

If you say "revert to 2.0", then I might hunt you down... the framework isn't the issue (+ all core functions at this point are pretty d--- close to what 2.0 once was, else you have the option to adjust).

No trolling, no bitching itt. Constructive plz.

not gonna tag all members

i basically wanted to step down, didnt inform staff..and gave my spot to saladin who is fugazi..the reason i did it was cuz saladin already knew all my accts and bills and server acces..etc, it would require zero transition but in the process i see that i wronged my fellow staff members who voiced their opinions clearly to me, i have rolled back the changes and i guess i will continue to do whatever is required to keep s80 going

so would like to apologize to @Staff

hello

we had few failed homepages before... since we know no one ever used it





but this time...we back with a twist... sectioneighty.com new homepage is an extension of the forum, all threads from music/life/artists sxn is auto promoted, but there is a good chance this bahavior will stop and only good threads going to be promoted so you can read the best thing SXN80 had to offer that day, also on the sidebar there is an interesting new way to see new posts where posts from same thread dont duplicate

now, we know there is few things to fix and tidy up..we got @Loyalty for that....but yea we good n----s

When we launched 2.0 we kinda hid donations because we simply didnt plan it in the design. But every now and then someone bring it up so we here

When you donate you will receive this icon for 30 days after your last donation


And you will be able to upload 100 custom smilies instead of 25

The upgrade happens automatically one hour after you donate

this will go live tomorrow once @BorisTheBlade do a very quick fix on something before we pull the trigger

this is a straight forward add on that we did not plan to have..but i decided to try it...threads will now have an option called "live mode"..mods can click it, and then the thread will turn into chat like thread where posts will auto show

this add on will target chat threads like cool cats and jcn and threads with albums that just leaked will go into live mode for the few hours after a leak where threads usually explode


this will be an interesting addition
