Jul 10, 2017 I loved the album. Crown and La Familia are my favorite joints, and his song with Beyonce gives me nostalgia to that time in my life
Jul 10, 2017 Holy Grail was on the radio also Fair point, but Magna Carta has the Venus De Milo on the cover . Gold has a price, De Milo priceless piece of art
Jul 10, 2017 I don't give a s--- if it was on the radio I was saying 808s had people saying it was a great album from release. im sure magna carter had people gassing it up from the beginning but I don't wanna trust someone's opinion who really likes that JT track anyways. This being said, the album would be the best in his discog if beach is better were thirty seconds longer
Jul 10, 2017 Agreed. It's overhated as f--- it pisses me off. The production on the first tracks is so rich and creative. Top 5 jay z album
Jul 10, 2017 It was average but might be underrated since I have seen a lot of hip hop heads bashing it
Jul 10, 2017 I disagree, 808s was a different avenue for Kanye. Many were sold on him doing a hip hop record rather than 808s. When they finally became more open minded and broke out of that close minded "hip hop sound" they learned to appreciate the music. It was a different sounding album, one they weren't used to. Much like how Yeezus has love and hate, there's a different sound to it. MCHG doesn't have anything or bring anything special to it. It's not different sounding. I get it there are albums that go underrated through the years but I don't think MCHG holds that merit. That's my opinion though, that's the beauty of opinions you can agree or disagree with it.
Jul 10, 2017 I don't see how this isn't a different avenue for Jay Z. You're nearly 20 years into your career, and suddenly the stuff you used to rap about has come back in style in a more modern reincarnation. You're last 3 albums you've played incredibly safe, and now you have a chance to make an album that sounds nothing like anything you've ever made And he did. Like Kanye did with 808s, and it's not like Kanyes subject matter was something new on 808s (addiction, roses, bring me down, 3 song streak of sad edginess in Late reg) or was it something 100% original, (Andre Made simp rap/ singing for an album acceptable onLove Below already) and nor is MCHG But both were completely new sounds for them, and the both took risks that were mixed with OK reception when they came out. I'm not saying MCHG will be regarded as great as 808s, I just think they're in the same lane in a way that they're something new for the artist
