    5G is kind of a joke right now. We're not at the point where it will offer much faster speeds than 4G like 4G had over 3G...plus it's not as good at going through buildings and walls. It will probably be better than 4G in 5 years but now it's kind of a gimmick

    Had the Pixel 1 and 2. They were the best phones I've ever used. Skipped the 3 and 4 because their little issues were big deals to me. Pixel 5 is enough of a step on the right direction for me to re-commit so I've got it on pre order, arriving Thursday.

    I find the customisation of Android to be the winner over iPhone. iPhone just seems too simplistic in its approach but I can't knock that they make great, well built, premium products. Something other companies such as Samsung aim for but miss by a long shot. In replace of long lasting hardware, they load up on bloatware and unnecessary gimmicks. I did find that Pixels were as close to hardware build perfection as you'll get with Android compared to iPhone.

    After market chargers are faster & more convenient anyway.

    They’re right that most people already have chargers by now & if it’s saving equivalent to 500,000 vehicles worth of carbon footprint, then how can it be argued.

    Apple have become so boring since Steve died, honestly. They’re making consistently good phones but the excitement & innovation is gone. They just refine what’s already been done because they don’t have to do anything else.

    That business model won’t last forever though as seen by the consistent sales decline. I think this year will be a big hit out of Apple’s usual performance.

    I get that, but there’s plenty of things they can be working on though, we’re talking about the kings of smartphones & the world’s biggest tech company:

    Higher refresh rate screen
    No notch display as Xiaomi have been working on an under display front facing camera for a few years now, I’m sure Apple can do it.
    Photonic Crystal displays which Apple have already got a patent for.
    Non-proprietary codecs, file types & utility software support.
    Full USB-C support
    A good battery aka nano tech batteries
    Actual fast charging/wireless charging
    Reverse charging
    Force touch/3D touch, god knows why it was dropped

    There’s just a few things to list & I’m no tech expert/engineer. I’m sure there’s a million ideas down the pipeline they’re just choosing the minimal update, low research & production route, which wasn’t the Apple way previously.

    To drain the battery faster?
    For battery reasons it took up too much space plus as far as I remember it helped them drop the price.

    Battery excuse sounds unreasonable when compared to the competition. As far as high refresh rate screen draining the battery, Apple’s software switches HZ between apps anyway to maintain battery optimisation on the iPad, they already have the software, it’ll be in the iPhone 13 - it’s a lazy cop out to blame battery when you have your own silicone & software control.

    Dropped the price from what? $1499 to $1399?

    Ridiculous, when you look at what others are doing for a third of the price without anywhere near the market share that Apple has to integrate ecosystems & provide subscription services (SaaS) which create much higher profit margins for them.

    Keen for the mini 12, size looks nice. The original SE was peak smart phone design imo.

    I used the Z flip for 2 weeks and just couldn’t stand Android, the flip was cool but man Android was rough.

    If I needed a new phone I'd definitely be looking at 12 mini, small phones ftw. I'm kinda surprised they already are using 5g, usually apple starts adapting the technology when it actually can work properly, which is not the case for 5g and probably won't be for a few years. Nothing exciting to me, just cool upgrade, I'm glad there are at least two good small phones on the market now (12 mini and pixel5), hope this will be the case when I'm going to need a new phone, pixel 3a still works like a new one tho
