May 28, 2015 I'd be fine with my favourite rapper or favourite artist of any genre being gay. Wouldn't bother me at all. And why should it? It's the music that we're appreciating first and foremost.
May 28, 2015 As long as the content of the music stays the same then i dont care. However I doubt that the content would be exactly the same. Not that gay people are that different overall, but i doubt that a relatiobship between a man and a woman is exactly the same as a relationship between two men/women.
May 28, 2015 Problem is with this when talking about Young Thug (not sure if you were here) is that his image in the public eye doesn't have much to do with the content in his music. He's not rapping about anything "gay" or "soft" so the excuse that you don't like listening to that kind of content doesn't fly in regards to Young Thug at all. In fact, he pretty much raps about the polar opposite. His content is pretty much everything that traditional Hip-Hop culture is used to and enjoys. There's also a bunch of rappers that wear feminine clothing anyway. It would be a lot more rational if people didn't want to listen to him because of his content but that's often not even the case. It's just because he's worn feminine clothing and said a few controversial things on twitter lol.
May 28, 2015 @nsd @Sheriff Skippy I guess different would be a better word. A rapper being gay doesn't bother me that much, I would still listen if the music was good and the subject matter wasn't about sleeping with guys or smoking penises or anything like that. But a rapper that we always assumed was straight, and made music about f---ing woman etc (like Drake for example), then all the sudden comes out to be gay? That would definitely be odd to me.
May 28, 2015 Frank Ocean is great, but I don't think he's ever been specific in his music if he's talking about males or females. As a straight male, I would not be interested in listening to him sing about any kind of relations with a guy. I would still like his other music that didn't touch on subjects like that though.
May 28, 2015 forrest gump 100% about a male. bad religion is about coming out. love both, the latter is in my top 3 or 5 for him. i dont care what he sings about as long as its good music. you can have hilarious lines about smoking penises or blunts looking like d----s (and piss off insecure people everywhere) like thug or you can be more subtle like frank if the musics gud its gud
May 28, 2015 1000% agree about Forest Gump. Again, I like Frank, but songs like that won't get much play from me.
May 28, 2015 Yeah I was just talking in general though, I didn't think this thread was just about Thug.
