May 23, 2017 You guys hear the president of the United States call terrorists "losers" and the first thing that pops into your head is "it came from the heart"/"not typical political s---." Jesus Christ.... Anyways, this is awful. I can't even imagine what the families are going through right now. I hope this is just one of those cases where it was just a lone wolf and not actually someone connected to ISIS.
May 23, 2017 i hope you get blown up by a terrorist you s--- c----. every time there's a world tragedy you come online just to talk s--- to people. you go from almost inactive to s----flinging r-----. every time. "please get eaten up by a aboriginal" is the Australian equivalent to "please get eaten up by a n----". k--- yourself, honestly. i know a racist c---- on sectioneighty, that picks on poor mistreated and racially victimized aboriginals with racist insults as a means to try an insult an Australian man in wake of a tragedy
May 23, 2017 f---ing scary... You dont realise until its right on the doorstep. Feels so surreal in manchester right now..Armed police all over town and s--- :/
May 23, 2017 Lone wolves are pretty much how isis operate in the west though. You can absolutely blame this attack and all recent attacks in Europe on Isis. Lone wolves are the mos dangerous of all because you just cannot predict them and most of these are young Muslim men raised in the west. It'd be nice if it was an organised group of foreigners because that's much easier to handle
May 23, 2017 Ehhh it's sad. But let's be real, this will be forgotten just like any other horrible attack after the 24 hour news picks something else up. It happens so much I feel we are just desensitized to it.
May 24, 2017 Certainly ISIS are responsible to an extent. You can credit their propaganda campaign for radicalization. I think that's an area where the west really needs to do a better job at restricting. On the other hand though, it doesn't take much for some lunatic who feels he has no purpose in life to pick up on these extremist ideals. Even if it's just by hearing it on the news. The reason I rather this be a lone wolf attack is because it still maintains that the only way ISIS can hurt the west is through influence. They can't effectively send people to Europe to commit attacks. That's not to mention, they're rapidly lose territory in the Middle East. Mosul should be completely cleared within a month or so. That will mean ISIS has been successfully pushed out of Iraq. American-supported forces in Syria are planning an assault on ISIS's capital there. Their existence as being a force on the ground are going to be numbered soon. At some point they'll need to go underground and operate in secret like the taliban and al-qaeda.
May 24, 2017 That's true but on the other hand they can still maintain this influence on lone wolves from underground. In fact, you could reasonably argue it could become stronger. These people are geniuses at using losses to their advantage. All they need is access to the internet. The biggest problems with lone wolves is that it's a societal problem. Islam is the tool of choice here but these young men are the same sort of people that would s---t up a school. It's easy to just write them off as lunatics. These people are broken and lost in the world even if they have a steady family and a future. It's extremely easy to manipulate these people with something as grand as ISIS. It's the first time they feel like they belong somewhere or that they're making a difference and impact on the world. The root of this issue literally leads back to civilisation and mankind itself. You can't fix it with driving ISIS underground (although that's a huge benefit in itself) there does need to be massive overhauls across all aspects in modern society.
May 24, 2017 On a side note this is just a phase in the history books. People get freaked out because of the digital age we're able to see and hear everything making us think it's the end of the world when in fact the world is probably at one of it's most peaceful times. Do you think in future history books this era of islamic extremism will be viewed as some kind of great struggle? It'll probably be mentioned as some minor political religious tension. Ruthless empires have invaded lands for centuries straight. This used to be the other way around we were burning witches while the arabs were pioneering mathematics. It's no big deal we always go through these phases we just happened to be born during the era of islamic reformation (which I doubt we'll see in our lifetime. we will die in this period) and the rise of economic and cultural globalisation and all the issues that come with it. These terrorist attacks are just a tiny subsection in history. All the millions upon millions of numbers and figures of the dead and wars we read about in history were terrified real people like us. It's always been like this. It doesn't take away from the tragedy though
May 24, 2017 @Alchemist34 Makes me wonder what the media would look like had facebook, twitter, and youtube existed on 9/11.
May 24, 2017 I've wondered that myself, gotta assume we'd probably have a lot of crazy stories, videos etc... I assume someone probably would have even live streamed from inside the towers or something, would have been very disturbing..
May 24, 2017 The buildings failling played constantly on every TV channel for at least 72 hours straight. Very traumatizing. I was on a lot of message boards then... I remember trying to explain to posters who wanted to k--- every Afghani in their towns that even though Osama bin Laden was last known to be living in Afghanistan that that didn't mean he himself was Afgani or that Afghanistan attacked us... A lot of people were under the impression the country of Afghanistan attacked us because thats what this country was accustomed to... First time I saw a lot of faceless screenames that I spent a lot of time agreeing with and trying to impress with my humor and knowledge act like they wanted to k--- off a whole nationality/ethnicity/religion/race of people.
