I feel everyone should have already accepted the fact that he's not gonna become the old Em again. You either like his new style on MMLP2, Recovery, etc or you don't. It amazes me I still hear people say stuff like 'If Em would just do this..' or 'if Em would just go back to' or 'If Em would just stop doing...'. It's not gonna happen and even if it does, he'll just replace it with something equally as weird/bad. It's like when he stopped doing the accent from relapse and eventually started yelling, singing and doing awful punch lines instead. Lately he's had that stop and go flow or whatever you wanna call it.

I guess what I'm saying is I just can't understand why anyone would still hold out hope for the 'old Em', it's been 10 years, he's gone...You either like his new style or don't, but I don't see reason to still believe he'll go back to his old ways. If you still have hope, please explain why cuz I don't get it.

some of us still have hope because since his return em's shown glimpses of his old self here and there, as in Relapse (2nd verse of Must Be the Ganja, My Mom) and MMLP2 (Brainless, parts of Bad Guy). not to mention The Warning, which is very reminiscent of 2002 Eminem

Never heard the warning I don't think but to me those songs really don't sound like the old Em. You're just bringing up a few of the good songs/parts he's had. But even if you think they do, I still don't see how you could expect a full album or even close to it of stuff like he used to do.

Also off topic but didn't know spacemoney was an actual poster lol, just remember seeing the name all the time from disliking everyone's posts on SL.

The warning is definitely reminisciant of 2002 Em.

Because people still have hope, we have seen that multiple times on different albums he come up with a great tracks, so that's why people still think he has the potential to go back to his old self and create one final epic album

I think it's because if it's your favorite artist you always have a little hope he will have that one moment again. It's like a washed up mj playing for Washington, you still watch and hope to get a glimpse of greatness, to see that one move that makes you say aww s---

I originally gave up on Eminem after Encore came out and he was supposedly retiring. I knew the drugs had gotten the best of him and that vintage Eminem would never be heard again.

Still, as others have mentioned, he's managed to show glimpses of greatness through the years. More recently on MMLP2 there was Bad Guy, Brainless, Don't Front, Baby, and Ground Hog Day all of which I enjoyed very much. Oddly, three of those songs didn't even make the album (what the f---). Then we have the recent cypher verse, which was impressive, but then again, how many times can you listen to a ten minute acapella rap? The answer for me was twice.

I was hoping he could translate that energy into actual songs on the new album. Unfortunately that was not the case, and what we got instead was further evidence of Eminem's disintegrated talent and some of his worst music ever. He never seems to focus the best energy in the right places, and gets too caught up in overdoing a specific style ... which is now cramming as many words as possible into each bar, no matter how bad it sounds.

Recovery is a very good album imo. The beats don't age well though & are a bit generic. But for me Talkin 2 Myself,No Love,Going Thru Chanages,Seduction,Space Bound,25 to Life are all very good songs. You're Never Over has good verses too but terrible beat & hook & LTWYL was way overplayed but a decent Pop/Rap hit.

I mean everytime Em announced an album. The anticipation was better than music itself. It is not only about music for most people.

What makes Recovery better than MMLP2?

To answer @Kon 's question, i think it's because he's shown flashes of his old self. Deja Vu, The Warning, Bad Guy, Brainless, Baby etc. I stopped expecting much from Eminem after Recovery but being a fan, it is frustrating to hear him make a song like Groundhog's Day but then do a full 360 and make a track like Survival.

Don't mean to barge into your conversations, but MMLP 2 sounded force, Recovery had a reason behind it to be made, not to mention better songs/delivery/flow/content.
