Aug 13, 2020 Day 13: TeeJay3k - I Pray TeeJay3k (not to be mistaken with Teejayx6) is another upcoming rap artist who dropped a great mixtape called Soul Searchin last year. I Pray is featured on this project and focuses on his upbringing in a rough neighborhood and his constant fear of getting hurt or even dying. The reason why this song stands out to me is because you can actually hear the emotion and pain in his voice. The beat is great and compliments his style of rapping. He kinda sounds like Lil Tjay (another Teejay, gosh it's getting complicated) if he wouldn't do brooklyn drill but I don't mind at all.
Aug 14, 2020 Neffy has slaps for days and can also come through with more serious joints. One of my favorite rappers of the past five years or so.
Aug 14, 2020 Day 14: BEAM - STRANDED (feat. Childish Major) I remember that Beam was somewhat known on that forum but in case anyone forgot, Beam is a great gospel hip hop artist and producer thats been around since 2005. Last year he dropped 95, which is I think his debut album even though he's been around for a long time. Sometimes he reminds me of Travis Scott but due to his gospel, dancehall and reggae roots he manages to create a more distinct sound. Stranded might be my favorite song off that project but if you like it you should just check the whole album out.
Aug 15, 2020 Day 15: Vince Ash - I-80 Shoutout @The Product for sending me this! Vince Ash gives me a very strong 2Pac vibe, especially voice-wise. I fw it heavy and I had to pick this song for today. Definitely gonna check out his other s--- too!
Aug 16, 2020 Day 16: BANKS - Gimme Banks is an amazing singer and songwiter that belongs most likely to the indie pop and electro genre. She first started to make waves in 2013 after releasing 2 EPs and going on tour with The Weeknd. Till now I feel like she still hasn't got the credit she deserves, even though she has several high charting albums. Her last album III which got released 2019 is definitely a progression for her as an artist and shows a different musical side. Gimme represents Banks really good, this is why I chose it for Day 16. Check her out.
Aug 17, 2020 Day 17: PARTYNEXTDOOR - Love Me Again Today I chose a song from PNDs amazing Seven Days EP. This melody and the way he sings over it just makes me feel some typa way. Is it good singing? Is it bad singing? Is the autotune off? I'm not sure what he did there or if it was intentional but he sure as h--- created an outstanding song. There is so much emotion in there, I can't really explain it. Definitely one of my favorite and most underrated PARTYNEXTDOOR songs + EP.
Aug 18, 2020 Day 17: Alison Wonderland - Dreamy Dragon (feat. Chief Keef) Ok normally I'm not a big fan of electronic dance and hip hop mash ups but I like Alison and Sosa, the godfather of Hip Hop. What can I say, they work surpisingly well together (I promise it's way better than those weird songs on The Cozart even though Shorty is a b-----r). The song is off Alison Wonderlands outstanding album Awake which is super fun to listen to. Other than that she's a humble person, speaks out about mental health and makes great music so check her out.
Aug 19, 2020 Day 18: Theophilus London - Whoop Tang Flow (feat. Raekwon) This song is off Theophilus' most recent album Bebey, which is an album I was really excited for. As you may know, he worked with Kanye, Tame Impala, Miley Cyrus and many more. The album is great, but the best songs on there were songs that already released in 2016-2018 (Revenge and the Tame Impala collaborations). Whoop Tang Flow is still a nice cut and fittingly features Wu Tang Clan member Raekwon, the latter absolutely murdering the beat on his sadly rather short verse. Can't go wrong with a nice old school NY vibe and some wild a--- bars (Your girlfriend, she's shady/that hoe tried to r--- me).
Aug 20, 2020 Day 19: Felix Snow - Lies (feat. SZA) Felix Snow is an underrated producer and in my opinion a very big influence in todays (hyper-)pop landmark. He did songs with Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Icona Pop, SZA and some more unknown artists like TYSM and Terror Jr. One of his trademarks are his minimalistic sounds (best seen on Love with Uzi) which still manages to sound captivating. Lies is a little bit more upbeat than his other songs. I chose it for today because it might be the best track to get into his music.
Aug 20, 2020 Lmao I first saw RZA and when I started the song I was like man how is rza gonna sound here.. and when I didnt hear him I looked again and it says SZA lmao. Cool song tho!
