this is a pet peeve of mine. can't stand a d--- bandwagon fan. every team (assuming they are really good at some point) acquires bandwagon fans. it just naturally happens once a team is really successful---but with certain teams its FAR worse than others.

this usually comes in two forms. (1) the person either doesn't care/ losses interest when the team isn't playing well/has s----d for a long period of time OR (2) the person starts liking a team just because they're doing really well and everyone else likes them.

now, bandwagon fans are usually easy to identify because they typically don't know something that a fan of sports team should know. i understand that everyone isn't a hardcore fan of a sports team, and that's perfectly fine. but regardless of whether you're a hardcore or casual fan, you should still know basic things like who the main players are. its not like i'm asking them to name every name on the teams entire roster.

like my cousin for example. he likes the cowboys. in fact, it seems like almost everyone in my family likes the cowboys, i wonder why. :roll eyes: one day i texted him about sean lee getting injured for the season again (this was a few years ago) and he didn't know who i was talking about. how the f--- are you gonna be a cowboys fan and not know who the f--- sean lee is! its not like he's a third string player or some no-name guy---he's one of their best defensive players and has been on the team for years!

    I CAN'T STAND THIS s---!

    END RANT

    Hypothetical Question:

I'm a Bears fan and don't know every member on the team (poor memory). Does that make mean I'm a bandwagon fan caught up in the hype train and if so can somebody tell me where I missed my exit off it?

If you can't name at least 2 offensive linemen, you're a poser fan

    no, it doesn't.

i'm a hardcore vikings fan and i don't know the name of every member of the team. 53 names is obviously a lot to keep up with

all i'm saying is.....as a fan of team......ppl should know basic things like who their starters are (or at least the majority of them) and who the head coach is and what not

    yeah, couldn't agree more.

this is the best way (when you're talking football) to know if a fan knows their stuff..........ask them to name the offensive lineman

offensive lineman obviously don't get a lot of attention. but just about everyone knows who the QB or WR is.......s---, even my mom knows those guys!

I'm not a bandwagon fan but I still follow the NFL and NBA very closely and love watching the playoffs even after my team is eliminated. For example, since my Sixers are pretty much a d-league team at the moment, I'm currently following the Warriors cuz they're a historically great team and fun to watch, so I'm hoping they win it all. I rooted for Denver in this past year's playoffs cuz I wanted to see Peyton Manning retire with a ring.

I think a true "bandwagon" fan is someone that never had a team, but all their friends are into sports, so when they decide to start watching and chose a team they just pick the best team in the league at that moment. Example: I work with a guy that's a Seahawks fan, but what a coincidence, never watched football before 2012. Another guy is a Patriots fan, but can't name one player from before the Brady era.

Exactly. No one could call us Sixers fans bandwagon fans when they get good again. Stuck with them through some of the worst seasons in NBA history

I call my brother a bandwagoner all the time because he hops onto different teams. He's as knowledgeable as me when it comes to AFL but he just can't stick to one team.
