    d---....
    2 and 3 are classics.
I think Wayne was at his best on The Carter 2, Rap wise. His gimmick was fresh af at the time, and this album started his legendary 4 year run. But That Carter III had better production. I could listen to the beat on "Comfortable" all day, I could listen to "Mr. Carter" and never get tired of it. The 2nd one was great, but I think the 3rd one edges it out. Yes, that was the beginning of Wayne's decline, but g.d. he was so high on top...his start down was slow, and he didn't start losing his touch until 2010. The Carter I is cool, that's about it. IV was ehhhhh, nothing great about it. It had some good tracks, but it felt more like a bunch of freestyles thrown together then a cohesive project. Almost every feature outshined him.

Carter II. Great memories. Wayne took that momentum and was the man for the next five years.

Just realized the last time I heard the original Carter front-to-back was in 2006. :sad1:

Has it aged well? Do people say it's better than 3?

3 was his magnum opus imo, felt like a f---ing EVENT when it dropped because of all of the build up & hype, & i must say, it not only lived up to the hype, but it surpassed the hype imo.

A lot of the flack he gets is due to his material from 2009 & on cause he got lazy & corny with his music for the most part, but before that, like 04-08, he was legit on his way to become a WELL respected mc, joining the ranks of Jay Z, Eminem, Ye, etc. The material from that era, is definitely worth a listen, though he's had occassional bursts of greatness afterwards as well.

Yeah I judged him a lot from that era. I listened to the odd thing from the early years and loved it. Then gave him a proper go years later in the corny era and was like oh wait nah f--- this guy but over time realized I just listened at the wrong time.

For a long time I was a firm believer that C2 was the best but something clicked with C1 when I played it again not too long ago. It's really well-rounded & cohesive, the sound is non-repetitive and the album has it's fair share of highlights (BM JR, Go DJ, I Miss My Dawgs). It was him graduating from Tha Block Is Hot/500 Degreez and a sign that he was ready to catapult to greatness. C1>C2>C3>>>>>>C4
