Dre is without a doubt the number one hiphop producer of all time. Ask any producer you want who knows there s--- they will tell u they cant match him

Just because you're not feeling them doesn't discredit them from being some of the all time best producers.

The people offended by Noah "40" Shebib not being ALL TIME top 10 is not warranted.

40 is a great producer, but he is not all time top 10 yet.

Yeah no I'm not saying that at all, it's just that there's literally hundreds of producers (including 40) whom you can make a good case for being top 10, and ones that I don't feel aren't going to make the cut for me

Fair enough, if you're basing it off preference that's fine.

I feel like once you make a top "x" list it becomes mostly preference, like you have a collective pool of a couple hundred producers from Ye to Statik that are obviously technically great, and then it comes down to a mix of personal preference and overall acknowledgement by the community

If I had more room, I would definitely like to add Quik and Mannie to my list.

I thought about adding Kanye (and I easily could have), but I felt with him still currently and actively making music he will get to the top 10 when it's all said and done.

My list was based off actual discography and facts. You can go back to any of those guys and see the impact they had on hip-hop.

No there isnt, i mean you can have personal favourites but there isnt hundreds of producers that could be considered as top 10 hiphop producers without leaving out legends and who are widely acknowledged as being in that spot

Impact and influence doesn't necessarily mean good music, otherwise the first rap groups from the 80s would be considered hands down best rappers ever. And if you're basing it off of facts then shouldn't it be the producers with most accolades ? Your list isn't bad at all but don't pass it off as the perfect one

    Also, acknowledged=/=great

Krispy Kreme (the rapper) is more well known by kids these days than Rakim... Is he better?

The obvious answer is no, and this train of thought often rears it's ugly head in forums where people hivemind around certain artists because the logic becoma "I like him, and they like him, he must be universally liked!"

I would make the case that Hudson Mohawke is better than anyone mentioned in this thread and there would be no legitimate way of measuring wether I was correct or not. When guys like most of yall itt say "best", y'all really should be saying "most acknowledged by the hip hop community", because you're just combining personal preference with other people's preference to come to a general consensus that doesn't necessarily reflect the skill pool of hip hop

Not saying my list is perfect at all. I'm just saying you can't discredit any of the producers' work on my list.
