Oct 26, 2015 Eminem has to be there for 2002. I understand you don't think highly of him but come on. other than that, basing this on what i know, I would agree with most of the list.
Oct 26, 2015 tho he never amounted to anything, doesnt budden deserves a place somewhere? i know he had a massive following at some point @WPG
Oct 26, 2015 If I'm interpreting it correctly, he's saying Dre isn't the best "rapper" at that time, because dre was known more for his production. And i assume cultural import means adding something to the culture tho i could be wrong
Oct 26, 2015 definitely didn't ignore them, i promise. 2001 is a great album, and The Chronic is an all-time masterpiece. don't know if either is enough to vault him to the top of either year, though. there are a lot of great rappers.
Oct 26, 2015 @WPG re: dre/chronic....u rly think Kanye was the best rapper in 2004? always felt like -- CD being great aside -- his technical or however-you-want-to-put-it skills aren't what they later became. he had the sound and style... then grew into actual proficiency not a madvillain fan? . also the eminem slights cont.
Oct 26, 2015 budden was a f---ing incredible mixtape rapper, doesn't quite vault him over the kanyes/waynes/tis of the world at that time.
Oct 26, 2015 i have doom second in 2004. kanye's technical shortcomings in the early going are wildly exaggerated--all falls down or two words or never let me down or we don't care etc etc etc are strong arguments to that effect. he was rapping better in 2010 (and maybe marginally in 2005? maybe?) but College Dropout is a masterpiece and as great as the production was, the impact was specifically because of his rapping/his identity as a rapper. EDIT: so was he a better pure rapper than doom (or ghostface) in 2004? probably not, no. but he was good enough that CD's impact--one that, as i said, owes much more to his rapping than his production--was so massive that i think it gives him the edge. for the record, i recently had to submit a ballot about the three best albums in each year, and Madvillainy beat The College Dropout for album of the year.
Oct 26, 2015 Couple things... Eminem deserved 2000 & 2002, and I'm not even a Stan wtf. And THUGGER IS 2nd best in 2015????? Bruh, Drake is the best this year, runner up is Future...
Oct 26, 2015 i disagree about eminem, and thug has put out two of the five or six best records this year and a handful of its best singles. EDIT: drake sucks go away
Oct 26, 2015 Disagree all you like, but cmon...cmon... I won't let my bias against Thugger cloud my judgement. But Drake has been dominating this year, he dropped 2 mixtapes, one of the biggest hits of 2015, killed someone's career, and views from the 6 is one of the most hyped albums at the moment.
Oct 26, 2015 i am seriously not going to entertain any arguments about drake being the best rapper in the world so keep it moving
