Jul 21, 2016 thanks to @BuffaloBoy V The World for the suggestion for this review thread Today I review Sleeping Dogs ps3 edition First things first I just wanna get it off my chest, this is not 'GTA in Hong Kong' by any means, this game is a surprisingly original affair tbh. Yes it is an open world crime game, but unlike GTA, Sleeping Dogs story mirrors Hollywood Blockbuster moreso than anything Rockstar has put out. You play as Wei Shen, a undercover cop whose objective is to infiltrate a g---. Tons of interesting characters with developed motives and good storytelling. Really well thought out and a strong point of this disc. The graphics are okay, nothing special. This is a later era PS3 game but probably doesn't look entirely up to snuff. Some of the character textures come off really bad. The city however looks very original and atmospheric, odds are you've never played a game set in a Hong Kong like this so it's very refreshing. Very detailed and populated. The city itself isn't the largest in the world compared to it's counterparts, but it's designed well and works. Tons of collectables around the world like shrines and little boxes. You can use cash you earn to buy clothes and such. The combat system is the best part. Unlike most open world sandbox games that half a--- the combat and such, this game goes overboard in that regard. It's a fully fleshed out melee combat system, makes you feel like you're playing a fighting game. Can't tell you how many times I was fighting multiple japs at once and using environmental hazards to annihilate them. Great stuff. Always satisfying and never gets old. The driving system isn't as polished as the GTA series but does it's job. There are some cool realistic cars and every now and then you can use super cars. The bikes always feel the same. Again, not a tremendous amount of cars so you'll see duplicates more often. The in-vehicle combat is cool, lots of slow motion and stuff. Adds to the fact that this game does action better than anything. Plus you can jump out the car and onto ppls cars and stuff. Awesome. Overall it's a good game and even though I played this years ago the experience and storyline still leave an impact to this day. This is probably one of the best last gen games you've never gave a chance. play this game if you like open world games, cool crime storylines, supplied with great fighting mechanics and action 8.4/10
Jul 21, 2016 Thanks for the review bro dope work,, I loved the story for this game so much. I even did all the DLC story's. The game did get super boring once you finished the story though unlike GTA but apart from that it's worth it for the gameplay. Might play through it again one day.
Jul 31, 2016 Awesome game, and sadly I didn't finish it twice lol. I got far on my PS3 version and got distracted with work. Bought it last year for my PS4 as the remaster and got to about the same spot and again stopped playing. Maybe I will finish it this summer. I'm really hooked on Zelda: Twilight Princess HD right now. I actually might finish it which is odd for me because within the last 5 years I've probably only beat a handful of games to be honest.
Jul 31, 2016 It was going to be True Crime 3 but then the company that published it bought the rights to it and made it Sleeping Dogs I believe. I could be wrong, but I think that's the story of it.
Aug 1, 2016 Decent review but I struggle to figure out how or why you gave this game an 8.4 rating. How can one person's opinion land an 8.4?
Aug 2, 2016 what are u even talking about I think the game's quality is roughly an 8.4 out of a would-be perfect 10. This is not rocket science here
Aug 2, 2016 that being said I prob rated this too high, if I could go back i may perhaps lower to an 8/10
Aug 11, 2016 interesting...just finished the Burial at Sea DLC's for the first time about a month or so ago thanks to the steam sale
