Sep 14, 2020Day 30: Paul Epworth - Mars & Venus (feat. Vince Staples, ISHMAEL & Elle Yaya)
Paul Epworth is a grammy award winning producer from Britain. To be honest prior to last week I had no idea who he was but after listening to this song and his album Voyager which released last friday, I knew it had to be some kind of genius. A few clicks and a Wikipedia article later, it seems my speculation turned out to be true. He is the man behind Adeles Skyfall amongst other things. Mans collected them awards like me collecting yugioh cards back in the days. For his album he gathered some high quality guests, even good ol' Kool Keith makes an appearence. Definitely check it out if you're in for something unusal and who knows, for some people it might even be an AOTY contender.

Day 24: Freddie Gibbs - Colors (feat. G Perico & Mozzy)
One of Freddie's hidden gems, since it was basically released outta nowhere, but oh boy, everything works together so well on there. It's the perfect example for mixing old school hip hop with modern elements. Everything done right. From League of Starz killing the instrumental with the sax sample to G Perico' and Mozzy's flow and lyrics bringing you straight back to 90s LA. Seems like they actually put some thoughts in this song and not just rapped over a youtube westcoast type beat and called it a day.Zeugma, DJW, Fire Squad and 2 others like this. -

Day 22: Chuck Inglish - WunderLAnd (feat. Trinidad James)
Chuck Inglish might ring a bell in some of you. He is one half of the hip hop group The Cool Kids', the other one being Sir Michael Rocks. He is a dope producer and rapper and has worked with a lot of artists (even early Travis Scott) leading to many great underrated songs. His style of production is basically the advanced version of those beats we used to make on the table during school lunch but this isn't a bad thing (as Clipse already showed us). WunderLAnd's production isn't as simplistic, so it might be a better introduction to Chuck though.DJW, Michael Myers, Zeugma and 2 others like this. -

Day 21: Rexx Life Raj, Kenny Beats - Moonwalk
Cali singer/rapper Rexx already made an appearance on the Nef song and is somebody who shouldn't be overlooked. His hooks are always catchy as h--- but he can also stand his ground on his own. He has a voice that you can always recognize and his flow patterns are very interesting at least. This song is a great example: His diversified use of his voice makes it fun to listen to and more so gives him a gimmick that so many other artists lack. Also Kenny on the keys.DJW, RetiredAccount, Fire Squad and 2 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Day 18: Theophilus London - Whoop Tang Flow (feat. Raekwon)
This song is off Theophilus' most recent album Bebey, which is an album I was really excited for. As you may know, he worked with Kanye, Tame Impala, Miley Cyrus and many more. The album is great, but the best songs on there were songs that already released in 2016-2018 (Revenge and the Tame Impala collaborations). Whoop Tang Flow is still a nice cut and fittingly features Wu Tang Clan member Raekwon, the latter absolutely murdering the beat on his sadly rather short verse. Can't go wrong with a nice old school NY vibe and some wild a--- bars (Your girlfriend, she's shady/that hoe tried to r--- me).DJW, Zeugma, Fire Squad and 2 others like this. -

Day 16: BANKS - Gimme
Banks is an amazing singer and songwiter that belongs most likely to the indie pop and electro genre. She first started to make waves in 2013 after releasing 2 EPs and going on tour with The Weeknd. Till now I feel like she still hasn't got the credit she deserves, even though she has several high charting albums. Her last album III which got released 2019 is definitely a progression for her as an artist and shows a different musical side. Gimme represents Banks really good, this is why I chose it for Day 16. Check her out.hargydon, Fire Squad, Ordinary Joel and 2 others like this. -

Day 14: BEAM - STRANDED (feat. Childish Major)
I remember that Beam was somewhat known on that forum but in case anyone forgot, Beam is a great gospel hip hop artist and producer thats been around since 2005. Last year he dropped 95, which is I think his debut album even though he's been around for a long time. Sometimes he reminds me of Travis Scott but due to his gospel, dancehall and reggae roots he manages to create a more distinct sound. Stranded might be my favorite song off that project but if you like it you should just check the whole album out.Last edited: Aug 14, 2020Zeugma, Michael Myers, Ordinary Joel and 2 others like this. -

Day 12: Gallant - Hurt
Since Gallant dropped his single "Doesn't Matter" with ASAP Ferg in 2018 I've been checking him out. He has an amazing potential, a compelling and memorable voice and his songs are bursting with emotions. Last year he dropped his album "Sweet Insomnia" and I'd recommend anyone to listen to this project. This is RnB in it's purest form. "Hurt" is my favorite song off the album and pretty much proves everything I've mentioned before. Fun fact: He has a grammy award nomination for his 2017 album "Ology".Sav Stanfield, lil uzi vert stan, Michael Myers and 2 others like this. -

Day 8: Pollari - South Of France
I'm kinda drunk rn but I still managed to show you this b-----r. Pollari might be known for his Lil Peep collab but he has some bangers on his own. I love this song because SupahMarioh absolutely killed this beat and Pollari fits perfectly. Enjoy!Last edited: Aug 8, 2020Michael Myers, Sav Stanfield, Ordinary Joel and 2 others like this. -

Day 50: Kacy Hill - Much Higher
Most of you probably know Kacy Hill from Travis' amazing Rodeo cut 90210. She's also a model and was a background dancer at Kanye's Yeezus tour and was signed to Good Music until 2019. Her 2017 debut album Like A Woman was nothing short but amazing and featured a big amount of DJDS production, another artist group that already made an appearance in this thread. Her most recent album Is It Selfish If We Talk About Me Again, which is executive produced by Francis and the Lights and features production by Jim E Stack (another familiar name) and Cashmere Cat amongst others aswell, is a great Alternative pop release that will definitely get more spins as fall season is already among us. The Jim E Stack produced song Much Higher is truly a blessing, everytime the Spotify shuffle decides to play it. Though I might share it, since a lot of you seem to like this type of stuff. 50 songs already, time flies.Yeez, Sav Stanfield, Ordinary Joel and 1 other person like this. -

Day 34: THEY. - Motley Crue
I'm on my RnB s--- right now I'm not gonna lie. THEY. is a Los Angeles based music group known for their very guitar driven RnB music mixed with grunge elements (Kurt Cobain is one of their influences). I can't even remember how I discovered them but Motley Crue was definitely the first song I've ever heard by them and it instantly got me hooked on their music. I checked out their album Nü Religion: Hyena, where the song is featured on and I absolutely loved it. So many good songs on there (Africa, Deep End, What You Want, Bad Habits, Back It Up, f--- it every song is good). Their Fireside - EP is also worth checking out and they're set to release their new album The Amanda Tapes soon, which I'm already looking forward too.Sav Stanfield, Ordinary Joel, Fire Squad and 1 other person like this. -

Day 33: Majid Jordan - OG Heartthrob
Another great RnB group chained up in Drake's OVO Sweatshop. Crazy to think that the release of their latest album The Space Between was already 3 years ago, which while not reinventing the wheel, is still a super smooth album. I don't know if being signed to Drake's label is a blessing or a curse, since Drake basically only cares about himself and not his labelmates (or maybe he's just too big for his label peers to be properly recognized) but I hope their star won't go out yet.hargydon, Ordinary Joel, Fire Squad and 1 other person like this. -

Day 32: Calboy - Nina
At the very latest since this this years XXL Freshman Class, Calboy is in no need of an introduction anymore. Chicago seems to burst with talent and Calboy is no exception. Nina is the song that completely sold me and arguably the best one off his sophomore album Wildboy (and off his catalogue in my humble opinion). The beat is a beast, that 808 bass is something different and Calboy kills his verses (and I'm not talking lyrics, I'm talking about the musicality). Barbarian with Lil Tjay is another song that I'd consider to be one of his best but y'all might already know about that one.DJW, Ordinary Joel, Michael Myers and 1 other person like this. -

Day 31: A$AP Nast - Designer Boi (feat. D33J)
A$AP Nast finally blessed us with a new solo song. I think the last time I heard him rap was on Dogtalk which is the first collaboration between D33J and Nast back in '18. I really enjoy the song even though the 808 could have banged a little more. Might have been one of my most listened songs on Spotify when it dropped.Last edited: Sep 17, 2020Zeugma, Michael Myers, Ordinary Joel and 1 other person like this. -

Day 29: Shura - Just Once
Sometimes when I'm sick from listening to hip hop (which is rarely but it occurs) I always turn to some nice new wave, synth pop. British singer Shura is one of my go to artists from that genre. Her soft hypnotizing voice paired with some beautiful nostalgic sounding instrumentals always makes me feel some type of way. Just Once is from 2015 but it's still holding up beautifully 5 years later. Check out her latest album forevher and you are in for some seriously good electro/synth pop.Michael Myers, Thy, Ordinary Joel and 1 other person like this.
