Compton First Impressions?

    This. And it's very hard for me to pick between the two. Both albums are 10/10 classics. It's like trying to choose between MMLP and TES. It's just a matter of personal taste which style you prefer more. If I had to choose, I think I'd go with The Chronic. I just love that early 90s G-Funk era style.

    I know you hold 2001 in such high esteem but it easily deserves this ranking, beats are fire, sure, and some of the rapping is great, but a lot of the filler features and tracks bring it down

    To each his own. Like arch dog said there both 10/10 and it's like MMLP vs TES it's really a matter of preference to most people

    lets not get carried away its not & was never going to be as good or better than 2001. That sound influenced the next 6-7 years of hip hop.

    After my first listen I thought it was very good. It's hard to compare it to his previous albums so early.

    Dr Dres voice was so different on this album, had trouble identifying who was rapping sometimes.

    I thought Dr Dre's delivery/autotuned parts were really weird. Also, f--- Justus and King Mez. But Kendrick, Snoop & Jon Connor had amazing verses, and the production is on point. Gone >>> *

    i'm loving it, there's still some elements of his older G-Funk style but there's also some newer styles. gets better with each listen.

    Dont think it's classic material, but it's about as great as i expected and that's not a bad thing
    Beats are dense and classy, features all did extremely well and it had a good mix of classic dre and new school sounds....

    I see Compton as a modern day version of 2001. It still has a classic Dre vibe, but also with some modern elements like a trap sounding beat. Also the use of artists (new and og's is similar. This doesn't have a song as great as Still Dre or Forgot about Dre, but it's really consistent. I don't rank it above 2001 yet (and probably never will) but it is pretty fantastic and it isn't that much behind it imo. Time will tell.
