Dec 2, 2016 Connor got his boxing license in Cali and is applying in other states. Hope this actually happens.
Dec 2, 2016 UFC won't ever let it happen. Just a response to them stripping him of his Featherweight belt (which had to happen, now that he won't fight again until May at the earliest). Definitely a feud brewing between him and the UFC, might be a lot longer of a lay off then May at this point.
Dec 2, 2016 The UFC has to hit a profit target in 2017 to get the full $4 billion sale price. With Ronda possibly having her last fight in December and McGregor on maternity leave, they aren't likely to hit it. Something has to break soon. Also, there's speculation that McGregor could use his boxing license to circumvent his UFC contract via the Muhammad Ali act. Decent Bloody Elbow article on it.
Dec 2, 2016 Why? It'd be a farce. Conor would get embarrassed against a domestic champ, let alone Mayweather.
Dec 2, 2016 Only way i would want to see McGregor vs Mayweather is under a set of rules where kicks/knees/standing elbows/clinching are allowed but not TD's and they fight with 4 ounce gloves. Think thats probably the fairest fight you could get, where one isn't massively favored over the other. Never in a million years would it happen happen, but thats probably the only way i care about it. That being said McGregor/Mayweather press conferences >>>>Mayweather/Pacquiao fight.
Dec 2, 2016 This is never gonna happen, crazy to me that so many people spend time actually debating if it will. IF it somehow does, it'll be in a boxing ring and Mayweather would do some severe damage to Conor. Like @Charlie Work said any domestic champ would destroy him. Floyd is one of the greatest, this fight would be the easiest check he's ever cashed.
Dec 2, 2016 Anything more than boxing and Conor f---s Floyd up. He could just spam leg kicks again and Floyd's shin would bust. k--- him in the clinch. Floyd's hands break in 4oz gloves. I just don't see it competitive under any ruleset. Presser would be great.
Dec 2, 2016 Not even Mayweather could deal with Conor verbally. Some network needs to get these two in a studio at the same time soon.
Dec 2, 2016 Idk, Mayweather kind of blows out all of McGregor's go to topics. He's undefeated, worth 50x as much, is his own boss, etc.
Dec 2, 2016 Probably just compare where he and Floyd were at the age of 28. Probably only thing he has on him, is the fact that 2016 Conor > 2005 Floyd as a draw.
Dec 2, 2016 cant get excited for anything involving floyd, he's not an exciting fighter and he doesn't even pretend to be. he's playing a game and just trying to score points while preventing his opponent from scoring on him, he's never going out there to put on a show or leave it all in the ring. this would be another manny/floyd where everyone's just deflated and bummed out once floyd wins again.
Dec 2, 2016 Floyd could have stayed at 135 or 140 and maintained knockout power, but he moved up for money and legacy. Plus he had glass hands so swangin' and bangin' was never in the cards for him. s---, Pacquiao did the same thing. Hasn't knocked anybody out since 2009. If you need a knockout artist to captivate you that's fine, but let's not pretend Mayweather isn't one of the slickest, most untouched boxers of all time who sold fights contrary to what his style would suggest. He would have more exciting fights on his resume if anybody came close to beating him. Well, besides Castillo who honestly did deserve that decision. The point stands, nobody gave a s--- about Ward until Kovalev pushed him. Mayweather made his greatest rivals look like fools. It's a double edged sword.
