This guy has a PhD in neurotoxicology (poisonous to the nervous system) so he’s significantly out of his field of study here. Also, he’s been making money off the numerous Coronavirus YouTube video he makes.

“One popular series on the virus is produced by a personal finance guru with a history of pushing economic theories about peak oil and other resource crunches, but who has recently rebranded as a pandemic expert as news coverage of the virus has exploded.

“I’m here with a really important message about the coronavirus,” Chris Martenson, one of the founders of the financial website Peak Prosperity, says at the beginning of a video entitled “Coronavirus Is Worse Than You’ve Been Told: Scientist Explains.”

“Unfortunately if you’ve been reading the news you’ve either been under-informed or misinformed about what this virus really is. It’s a very serious thing,” he continues. “To get more updates, please come by [my website]. We have a place for subscribers who want to go a little deeper and get some good advice about what they can do.”

While the website offers some articles on the coronavirus, it also highlights something called “Our Recommended Pandemic Preparations”—only available in a section for paid subscribers.

While Martenson calls himself a scientist in the video’s titles, his claim to the label is, according to him, based on a 1994 PhD from Duke’s Department of Pathology where he specialized in toxicology. While he published scientific research in the ’90s, for at least the last decade Martenson has focused on predicting stagflation and other large shifts in financial markets.

He’s not a practicing physician, he’s just a guy with a science background who’s taken an interest in this virus,” said Dr. Angela Hewlett, an infectious disease specialist at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, who clarified that she didn’t see anything in Martenson’s videos that gave her cause for concern.”

Dude sounds like a conman trying to make money off people’s fears. Any time someone claims to know more than all the other experts in the field, be skeptical.

In NZ, we hopefully transitioning to "level 2" next week, where pretty much all business will be back open. We had two days of no cases in a row, then just 1 or two cases the last few days that are linked previous known cases. We have effectively nearly eliminated the virus.

Really proven that the "go hard and early" stratergy is much better for both saving lives and for the economy.

We're slowly opening again as well.

In june bars, restaurants etc open under restrictions.
Contact professions (beauty salons, barbers etc) open on may 11th and all ages can go outside for sports again -except contact sports like football hockey etc

Government has given us a map of how they slowly wanna get out of the rules step by step.

Honestly really proud of how they have done it here as well and the way they communicated w the citizens

Same here. Boris is announcing his plan on Sunday with a rumoured slow re-start straight away from Monday. Thank God!
Fact is though, this virus isn't gone. We have to live with it until there is a vaccine so extreme social distancing will be the norm for a long time yet.

On a side note, we just booked a cruise for the 5th September. If it gets cancelled because of the virus I'll get a 125% credit so no matter what it's win-win situation. If it's not cancelled then we get a MUCH needed holiday. If it is cancelled then we can afford a better holiday in the future.

I see lots of Americans on social media saying NZ has only done so well because of our low population density. I dont understand how population density is really a factor unless you normalized it and only included areas that are populated . Yes we have low population density, but most or our land is uninhabited, and most people live in cities.

Our furlough job protection scheme/payment has just been extended until the end of October. A sign of how long governments believe this is still going to be an issue for.

Thank god this virus is finally over and we can get back to normal. We gotta get our economy back up and running. This is literally just the flu, and not nearly as big a deal as all the liberal snowflakes are making it out to be.

whistleblower who worked in HHS & was demoted for refusing to push hydroxychloroquine—a drug Trump continuously touted as being effective against the coronavirus even though medical experts were skeptical.

why is America the only country going "hydroxychloroquine is bad!!!!!!" is America anti-vaxxers as a collective? or did Trump just say hes funding it now America is like "IT MUST BE BAD!!! IT WILL TURN WHITES RACIST AND BLACK PEOPL WHITE!!!!"

Like, I'm in Queensland and our university has the "Best vaccine for corona in the world in trials" but we are still pushing for hydroxychloroquine until its ready. From what I've read hydroxychloroquine isn't amiracle cure and does have some side effects, but would you rather some s--- side effects temporarily or die cause you're in the 5% of covid cases that are super srs?

IIRC one of the bigger more worrisome side effects of hydroxychloroquine is that it kills ya sperm count a fair bit. like "oh no! not more population control on an over populated planet!! plz anything but my sperm!!"

Might want to fact check this.
I think most governments are saying there is no evidence wether hydroxychloroquine is effective against covid 19 or not. The ones who are using it are countries with anti-science governments like Brazil. It is still available for treating other diseases like arthritis in most countries, but I doubt many countries are actualy using it to treat covid.

That's the case in NZ anyway.

There was a VA study that showed patients who took it had a higher mortality rate than those who didn’t.

It's not a treatment, it's like a suppressant for the disease. From what I read of clinical trials it shortened/alleviated symptoms and the life of the contagion. The worry is that after discontinued use there may be cardiac related side effects - which are at times present when it is used to treat 3 other different ailments.

Like, if it's such a 'big bad' medicine, why is it already used to treat other things? - there is just concern the already known side effects may be exacerbated. Therefore "" "treatment" "" of covid hydrochloralickmyass should only be done in hospital settings under care/supervision (((because there is not enough clinical trials done (yet) specifically for covid treatment)))
