Started recording songs way back, around 2005. My older brother rapped and seeing him do it growing up made me want to do it too. Recorded pretty prolifically between 2005 and 2015, but I look back on most of that s--- and cringe now. I still write on and off and record sporadically, but it’s been a while and have struggled badly with writers block since 2017 or so. I’d like to get back into it properly at some point, but I used a professional studio and don’t have the means to record at home, so gotta wait for corona to die off before I can record again.

Basically there's more rappers than listeners lol, but it's just like in States, same type of rap is popular and there's plenty of guys that copy 101 everything that's popular.

nope. been recording since 2011 and freestyling since god knows how long. writing lyrics is second nature.

i never prewrite verses though. I pick a beat and write to it, line for line. rapping out loud and always start back at the beginning of the verse when the next line is done.

    example:
    line 1 > line 2 > line 1> line 2 > line 3> line 1> line 2> line 3> line 4 etc etc

by the time my 16 bars are written the verse is memorized through repetition.

2 hours for writing and recording, give or take. but what I release can be vastly different than what was originally recorded. I have a track on my upcoming tape called 8 Sided Gucci, which was originally written and recorded in 2016. Made some changes to it in 2018 (new beat, tightened up some lines), and again in 2020 (new beat).

My unreleased songs, writtens, etc. far outweigh my finished product. A lot of end-product songs are an amalgamation of multiple songs or ideas. self-collaborative process, I guess.

d---, it's weird to think about writing like that from my perspective but if it works it works.

Hey my name is JMG. I have been writing Poems and Raps since I was 15.. Its usually just a hobby but I wanna try to take it more serious and see if I can get anywhere? I just worry 30 is too old to try to start making music. What do you guys think?

Bruh look at Danny, Freddie etc they both blew up after they were 30. People always mention Em and Jay being 26 too, age is the least of your problems.

Go for it, it's never too late. Since I'm retiring as a rapper I'll be making more beats from now on, so we can finally cook something together one day.

Yes sir, it is, but I was always making it for other people to enjoy it aswell. I'll be probably writing and recording for myself once I'm done releasing stuff. I think I'll drop a few more remixes and that's it, game over.

The end goal use to be signing to a major label like anyone else. Had a buzz going in 2010-2012 with a nice following, had industry people contacting me. But after networking and getting to know people within I soon began to hate the idea of going big. So I backed off for a while. And of course the internet and world moves on without you. So now I just do it independently and post it online. But I will forever make music.

d--- I can't imagine what thats like being in a place where there's not really an audience for your art. Not for nothing but being a producer might be more versatile as far as getting recognition, especially if you work with more US artists etc.

Why do you hate the idea of making it big? I don't think I'd ever want to be Drake but the entire purpose of releasing music is to get it to be heard right? At least thats my intention, It's a reason I try to focus on making mainstream accessible music

I had a few followers like back in 2013-2015, but once I moved out to other city everything ended, somehow lol. I love rap, I can't imagine myself not rapping, but like I said, no audience - no reason to continue. Also, people don't take underground rappers too serious in here.

I'm thinking more and more about producing, but we'll see. I may just leave it all for good and find myself some other things to do.
