    So, for example.

Freddy vs Jason. On metacritic the critics give it a 3.7/10, yet regular people give it a 8.6/10.

Seriously, I wonder how can the difference be so big? I'm sure the fans care about one thing: did I enjoy it? And critics look at different things (I guess).

But still. For the record this is not about the movie freddy vs jason which was just an example.

Critics go more in depth with whatever they're reviewing. They pay attention to certain things that a casual viewer or listener probably wouldn't or wouldn't care about.

critics review technical aspects of a film most people don't even give a s--- about.

and freddy vs jason was good.

So yeah basically when you watch a movie, don't look at what critics say because it means nothing if you only care about enjoyment. I've seen movies with a very high score from critics (which means it was impressive) but regular viewers crushed it and I ended up agreeing with that. But this also happened the other way around.

If I try to look at it objectively:

It brought nothing new. Both original movies were scary and this one wasn't. It was funny, and the storyline was cool, but it was one cliché after another.

    My opinion

Loved it. I'm not comparing it to the other movies and as a standalone (I know it cant be seen like that really) I liked it. Robert Eglund was funny, the leading characters were good and I liked how they mixed up elements from elmstreet & camp crystal lake.

Critics look at films and media in an artistic way rather than an actual fan of the property. Companies get people who aren't even into the lore or trivia of.. An example would be a person who cares nothing about sci-fi reviewing Halo or cars and reviewing Forza. In films its no different.

Well regular viewers don't care about a lot of the things the critics do so in that case there is no right or wrong. If you wanna enjoy a movie its better to know that a lot of people enjoyed it instead of critics thinking its good.

You don't have to be a critic to know that 50 shades of grey sucks. Some people just have a bad taste.

There's no such thing as "bad taste" though. Both critics and fans are just normal people. The difference is that for the former there's a sector where their economical situation and social reputation might be seen heavily affected due to what they choose to publish, leading to maneuvers such as bribery, obtruded agendas or just overall corruption. Things like saying "This movie is objectively bad and you have s--- judgement for enjoying it" are precisely parts of these condescending tactics to make the public think twice before talking about something they don't like.

    TLDR Marketing is a b----.

How do you call people who rate 50 shades of grey 10/10 because they saw boobs on the screen and they almost came while watching it?

I'm not really saying that all opinions have the same value. This is just basic politics. Why should the opinion of the fanboy of a franchise such as, let's say, Star Wars, be held to less regard compared to the one of the "experienced critic" who's probably just trying to check off the movie from his bucket list?
