Feb 26, 2021 It's a really nihilistic/pessimistic way of thinking to suggest that people only care about this stuff to portray themselves as morally superior and also say "life is unfair why bother caring." Obviously there are some people who simp about politics for clout or to big themselves up but is it really that hard to believe that some people just have empathy and want to try to improve the world in any little way they can? People are "obsessing over politics" in the USA because COVID + police killings + trump in the election + the domestic terrorism at the capital was the shock to the heart that many people needed to see just how broken our country is.

Not saying you think you're morally superior but it feels like your implying others don't care about issues in our country. I just feel like majority of people like to escape from that with things like music, forums ect. I'm saying that a lot of people are simply empathetic and that it's a pessimistic view of humanity and a vast mischaracterization say that people only care about this stuff to flaunt their morals while ignoring everything going on in the world. I genuinely don't give a s--- whether or not anyone cares about an artists' politics or if they separate art from the artist, do whatever you want. I totally understand that people use music as escapism because I do too, but if people want to talk about the music then talk about the music! If people want threads to go in a different direction then the best way to do that is to respond thoughtfully to a thread or make a thread about something yourself. All of the people complaining about the politics in this thread either didn't post about the song at all prior to that or posted a very short response that didn't move the needle one way or the other...which is fine, not every post needs to be an essay. But be the change you wish to see on the forum—I'm not here to police the direction a discussion goes if that's what the majority of posters are interested in discussing.

I hate Post Malone just as much anyone but myself personally Im sick of seeing politics being brought in everywhere. I just want to switch off from that stuff at times. Feb 26, 2021 Well first of all, in a predominantly black art form it's highly relevant to mention that Post Malone has both abandoned the black/hip hop community that he used to blow up - and that his views don't align with the interests of the majority of black people (who overwhelmingly voted against trump, even if he did better amongst black voters this past election, which I'm sure JMG is about to bring up). Truth be told, if you don't like it stay the f--- out of the thread and keep your mouth shut, because you bitching about it is literally adding nothing of value, and is just further highlighting the politics you want to "keep out of music" or whatever. I don't mean to sound like a d-ck, but hip hop is a black art form and is highly tied into politics.
