Sep 22, 2018 I find this funny because I was the exact same; I remember downloading TES one song at a time off Limewire back in 2002. I was obsessed. But none of Em's post hiatus music has resonated with me, at all. And I think a lot of these 'twitter kids born after 2008' as you put it, are actually listeners that grew up with and appreciate his music, but just dont enjoy his newer stuff. Sure Twitter kids born after 2008 are probably more likely to enjoy Lil Pump, etc. But i think the vast majority of 'Em haters', so to speak, are older fans that he lost somewhere around Recovery, and who have just moved on to other artists
Sep 22, 2018 i like a few songs off it. Was really nostalgic to hear him pissed off and flowing really well on certain songs. But most of it felt stale and boring to me.
Sep 22, 2018 ok i see what you’re saying. This is where the difference between hip hop fans and music fans in general comes into play. Em’s an international pop superstar so yeah, his fanbase does have plenty of older fans too. I guess i was speaking more about the hip hop-listening part of his fanbase.
Sep 23, 2018 No hate man just was a little surprised relapse was the first time you heard Eminem, made me feel kinda old
Sep 23, 2018 hahaha yeah im sorry. i probably heard the radio singles of SSLP, MMLP and TES when i was very young but cant remember anything of that.
Sep 23, 2018 Imagine not knowing who Eminem was before Relapse/Recovery. First Eminem song you heard in your life was My Mom? d---...You wanted to hear more after that? Lol It's crazy to think that some people had never heard of Eminem before Recovery. Times change I guess.
Sep 23, 2018 I remember skiving off school to listen to the live worldwide radio premiere of Not Afraid.
Sep 23, 2018 first of all i didnt pay attention to lyrics when i first heard eminem songs. it was his great hooks and unbelievable flows on relapse that appealed to me. later i diacovered all his okder work and i was amazed how he could rap. also keep in mind that i couldnt speak alot of english when i first heard relapse. i was 14 at that time and we had our second year of english classes by then. im swiss so i didnt grow up with the english language.
Sep 23, 2018 Yea, I get it. It just surprises me when I hear people say they haven't heard of Em before Recovery for example. But there are fans of all ages and places. It must have been nice to go and listen to some older albums for the first time.
Sep 23, 2018 yes it was crazy to listen to older songs. with time i learned more about his career, his beefs, his comeup, proof's death and his hiatus before relapse etc... i discovered it step by step and became a stan even though i didnt listen to eminem (atleast not consciously) before relapse.
Sep 23, 2018 im happy enough to witness his career when he's still active. same goes for roger federer e.g.
