Nov 19, 2020 Em's wording of that bar is so much better. 'Can get capped' only works one way and once you get the pun, the line is breaks the other way. Wheras "be capped in America, like Steve Rogers" works both ways, seamless wording.
Nov 19, 2020 I love when Crooked pays homage shows how much being signed to Shady means to him. I can respect it.
Nov 19, 2020 I get what you’re saying. I also feel like it could be where he heard the line, and not remembering where he heard that line before, and was writing, and wrote that line thinking he made it up.
Nov 19, 2020 Now that I asked, my opinion is that I can't see it as paying homage. You do that with a song that is a classic. Don't get me wrong, Adventures of Moon Man and Slim is dope; but it's still new. If he spit the lyrics to Rappers Delight, I would understand. On the flip side, the song is too new to accidentally write the same line. It's not that it's just the same rhyme scheme, it's a complex punchline with deeper meaning.
Nov 19, 2020 Passionate MC actually bit that bar. He claims he never knew who Daylyt was until 2012 when he seen Canibus battle live and Daylyt was on the card. But Daylyt spit that bar in 2009.
