    What's up everyone? Clutch is back with another thread since I'm trying to work with and learn from like minded people in the seven jobs I'm juggling right now. One of them is DJ-ing which I'm still fairly new at but I haven't seen a thread dedicated to SXN80's DJ's. So noobs and veterans alike, come s---t the s--- and post some of your mixes/sets/tips/tricks.

    I have like no experience in DJing, but I've done mixes in an attempt to figure that sort of thing out. Still don't know what I'm doing tho, and they're too different than your average mixes, and shorter.


    I think part of the problem is that sampling trips me up big time, so I have little experience working with tracks that aren't my own original production.

    Dammit why'd I take down those mixes I had (granted they were pretty ancient from like 2012 lol). I've been a Disc Jockey for about 5 years right before I started college since I loved music and thought I can get maybe some easy money doing it. I stopped DJ-ing last year after me & my buddy who used to let me borrow his loudspeakers decided it was best to stop after this one stupid frat party damaged some of our equipment.

    As far as tips go try getting to know club owners or in general people that are hosting events as best as you can. Sometimes you'll find that these people like to take chances with new guys and before you know it you'll be getting gigs. Obviously if you plan on being serious about it as a job always update your mixes and playlists to keep every experience fresh and keep promoting yourself; the latter was something I was lazy at doing.

    I had a gig at a fine strip club out in BG lined up but ended up moving before I could even do my first set. I was all over the face to face networking thing, the first person I hit up in a bar/club is usually the DJ.

    I don't really do "party-ish" or dance tracks when I make mash ups, I just try to experiment and do stuff that is unusual. So, I'm a bit experimental with those, draw a lot of influence from Kanye and s---.
    This is a recent track I did that I really like. Conceptual and Experimental hip hop... kinda.
