Over the years, Swizz tried to bring DMX back. I think he deserves some credit. I don't love him as a Producer, for every great song he has 5 generic ones. But he tried. I think DMX was done somewhere between 2010-2012. I think Swizz tried to bring DMX back, tried to get the man focused and working again, to make some money and to help his family out but in the end this project isn't great. Giving him old Bono tracks or old Nas tracks, with one recycled song/DMX verse and one that has a recycled chorus which makes the verse itself suspect...
The one interview I read seemed to imply that DMX really liked the idea of doing less work, letting these featured artists carry the project. And it feels that way. But the same interview also had a quote from Swizz where he said the Next album would be DMX doing it all again, back to the same work ethic with fewer guests. So retirement talks or not, he might have done one more.Ordinary Joel, Chrollo and lil uzi vert stan like this. -

Glad I'm not the only one that never really liked Swizz lol
Like I'd rather hear funkmaster flex tags all over a joint than Swizz's voice on a hook.Ordinary Joel, asvdawg and lil uzi vert stan like this. -

Here you guys go, at least the hook of Money Money Money dates back to 2013. Will need to inspect the lyrics for the verse comparison. Although at the moment seems different.
[Verse 1: DMX]
Money, money, money
b------s, b------s, b------s
All these f---ing killers, but the jail's full of snitches
A dollar ain't got a f---ing thing to do with riches
Say cheese, now I got pictures of what a b---- is (woo)
And this is actually a great Swizz/DMX collabo track, and a good sample of Biggie.Last edited: May 28, 2021Ordinary Joel, CARNIFEX and lil uzi vert stan like this. -

During recording Swizz probably realized X is too passed it and had to edit the s--- out of it and add other artists to cover up the fact X can barely hold his own compared to what he used to.
Even though it's sad we didn't get more X, I think we should be happy with what we got. As crazy as it sounds, had there been more X on it, this could have turned out a lot more disappointing.Ordinary Joel, DJW and CARNIFEX like this. -

Taking into account DMX's age, backround and circumstances. At this stage of his career. This album is a 7.5.
If you leave everything out and just listen to it for what it is, probably a 5.5.
The production and features helped carry X throughout this album. But what can you realistically expect from someone who's 50, been dabbling in hard drugs since he was a teenager and spent the better part of his life in and out of jail.Ordinary Joel, asvdawg and jankland like this. -

Money money money is fire. Wish pop was on it but moneybag yo did his thing.
Still gotta finish up the album. X sounds a little slow on here overall but I’m not expecting 50 year olds to be as dexterous as they were in their 20sOrdinary Joel, lil uzi vert stan and Wreckless like this. -

I enjoy this given the circumstances X has been living through when recording this. He doesn't have that energy that he had on his classic albums and wasn't really as present on here as much as I wished him to be, but it's still a bittersweet final album from an extraordinary rapperOrdinary Joel, lil uzi vert stan and Ricky like this. -

I was expecting something different tbh.
It didn't sound like a complete album, it felt more like "the best they could do out of unreleased material".
X only having the last verse on a lot of songs gave me the impression that this sounded more like a compilation album too.
I guess I expected more newer material, since DMX actually worked on it by himself.Ordinary Joel, CARNIFEX and Marsh like this.
