Seems to be the case according to Genius, "The song was originally recorded for Nas' 2012 album Life is Good, but didn’t make the final cut."

"Plus, during an interview with GQ Swizz revealed that he originally planned to find a slot for the track on his 2018 solo album Poison, but then decided to wait:

I knew that track was special. I didn’t want to get hyped up because people wanted it [if I] didn’t have the right outlet or the reason to put it out. An X album is a better reason to put it out. I have many songs like that."

Nas sounds great on it. Almost throwback Nas to the old days. But again, the DMX verse was recycled. And that Jay Z verse was awful and awful quality.

I know about two. The Walk With Me Now Prequel Mixtape and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Weigh_In

But a quick search reminded me of this one I forgot about https://www.discogs.com/DMX-Mixtape/release/2773588 and

https://www. datpiff.com/DMX-My-Last-Words-mixtape.91028.htm which seems to also have some tracks from The Prequel and the album Walk With Me Now

Lots of recycled stuff it seems. Bono's contribution to Skyscraper dates back to at least the early 00s according to The Guardian review.

Bath Salts is a reused 2009/2010 verse. And the chorus on Money Money Money is reused, it was actually a verse on Time to Get Paid. But the verse itself on the new song seems new, or old but unheard/unreleased. That leaves 8 tracks. Skyscrapers is just lazy. Leaked, unreleased officially, and given to X. Why not get Bono to do a new song with X, it almost feels like pure laziness. Kanye version is better anyways.

Remember when X said he got Bono? He should have elaborated LOL you mean an old song your producer did with other people, sure, yes you got him.

If someone added up only X's parts on this project, I have a feeling it would be under 10-15 minutes. It has that brevity.

Article is incorrect about the X song though... it was on Redemption ok yes 2015 but it came out in 2010 and slated for Walk With Me Now. So like I said 2010.

    Walk With Me Now

    01 – Intro
    02 – Already
    03 – Built Like A b----
    04 – Spit That s---
    05 – Silver Shadow
    06 – Y’all Niggaz
    07 – The Way It’s Gonna Be
08 – Untitled (feat. Sean Kingston)
09 – Untitled (produced by Kanye West)
    10 – f--- You b----
    11 – Soldier
    12 – Ya’ll Don’t Really Know
    13 – It Ain’t My Fault

    INTRO - MISSING

09 – Untitled (produced by Kanye West) THIS WE DO NOT HAVE.

Now tell me if this came out in 2010/2011 if this would not have been a Great Album. Not amazing, no. But solid. A solid follow up to 2003. Better than Undisputed, left over rejected tracks that made up Redemption and definately better than this last album. Tentative last.

I personally prefer X over the Bath Salts beat over the Spit That s--- beat. I actually really like Bath Salts

To each their own. Beat is OK, Nas came out unharmed lol Actually somewhat impressive. He is my third favorite rapper, but I can't delude myself about when he fell off. Stillmatic was the end. The new album was good, but those beats are not it. Plus the topics have been scarce since early 2000s.

Something else to consider. I have had these tracks for how many years now? You will not give me a 10-11-year-old verse chopped to h--- and expect me to be impressed. But that's Swizz, I guess he thought we forgot about it or something.

So is the Mixtape titled release from 2010 an unauthorized compilation that includes tracks from Walk With Me?

Just saw this. Missed it before. I listed all the ones I could find or know about. The one I mentioned the most was Walk With Me Now The Prequel Mixtape. Which had some tracks slated for the album, Walk With Me Now. 1st half of a double disk project.

It's called a Bootleg on the one site so I wonder... most of the tracks were slated for the album which was suppose to come out Summer 2010. This Mixtape dropped Jan 2010. Could be unauthorized.

Also DMX ended up including some of the tracks two years later on Undisputed, a few on the album and some as Bonus. So yea, seems illegal.

    There ya go:

Walk With Me Now (The Prequel)
    Artist DMX
    Type Bootleg / Unauthorized
    Released January 2010

    My Last Words
    Artist DMX
    Type Bootleg / Unauthorized
    Released 12 January 2010

    Mixtape
    Artist DMX
    Type Bootleg / Unauthorized
    Released 23 March 2010

To correct my earlier post, I guess DMX only has one official Mixtape, The Weigh In. The rest are Bootlegs. And all the ones from 2010 are mostly from that album (Walk With Me Now) and cuts that did not make it.
