Jan 29, 2018 Why? Why does everyone assume that Humans will be problematic to AI/Robots? Honestly, isn't it the safer bet to assume that humans have done so much damage in our finite lifetimes that a (potentially/likely) infinite lifetime of a conscious AI, will cause the AI to determine there is a small window of time left on earth (compared to being alive forever) before it explodes/dies. If the AI has the instinctual programming to "survive" like a human, It's going to be far less interested in destroying the human race as it would be getting the f--- off this planet.
Jan 29, 2018 I didn’t suggest it would be malicious. And AI will program itself, hence intelligence boom. It will shift into an arms race of dominance amongst each other. Humans will be in the way, like we are to each other.
Jan 29, 2018 I dunno seems you implied that a fair bit. Check the last page, AI's are already programming themselves. Why will it become an arms race though? It's not like AI will want any resources for sustenance. it doesn't need it. If it has survival instincts and feels threatened, it will likely mimic humans and with a 'fight or flight' response. Not a 'fight or fight' response as everyone seems to think. If AI is built in our image, without the intelligence necessary to deduct it doesn't need to sustain its own life, then perhaps it may react as if it is on borrowed time and will have survival instincts. The other thing is, if they're independent like humans they will have different goals and ideals etc to each other. There is nothing on earth currently that would motivate an AI to destroy all humans, or perceive humans as getting in their way. There wont be an arms race because if these AI's are so intelligent they know it'll be stupid to toss nukes around the earth making it uninhabitable for themselves. In fact, thinking about it more in-depth if the Earth lost its' ozone layer or atmosphere for whatever reason, the sun radiation would fry anything related to AI. Not talking heat either, radiation. it f---s with electronic equipment.

Jan 29, 2018 That’s a strawman to mischaracterize beings that override obstacles that get in the way with beings with malicious intent. I’m suggesting humans will deal with the consequences of collateral damage (not in case of bombs either). Sure, but AI isn’t programming itself with hyper intelligence right now. Everything in nature, when there is no guarantee of reciprocity or cooperation, races to dominate each other for survival purposes. I don’t see AI being different other than it can do it with more sophistication.
