Dec 14, 2015 most critics aren't f---ing with migos anymore. most current rap critics (and more importantly, most editors at outlets with corporate interests) have very little in the way of taste/judgment/vision. lots of them are hypebeasts. but it makes no sense to call the group "critical darlings" when they've been essentially written off and when the majority of publications weren't really engaging with their full-length projects in the first place. you have to pick one side or the other to argue, lol.

I'd imagine a typical critic functions similar to a human being, so following that train of thought (sorry if that's "reaching" still) then they'd still love migos as much as they did, but just not talk about them. That makes them still critical darlings because every critic loves them. You offered up the counterpoint that they're not talked about by critics as if that's the measure of gauging how much critics like something, so I called that behavior out as being hypebeast. Either train of thought is cringe inducing I'm just following those mentalities to their logical endpoints and calling it what it is.
