Jan 12, 2016 It most certainly is. A song about killing Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears is in no way meant to be serious. With lines like "hello Lindsay, you're looking a little thin, hun, how about a ride to rehab, get in, c----" or "should I cut off one of my ears and mail it to her" "give me a valium alley-oop" etc. The whole song is just a joke, as is the entire Relapse. None of those stories there are meant in a serious way or trying to portray a real threat. He even said it himself in interviews that Relapse was him joking around too much and "the joke is over"

Jan 12, 2016 I'm not sure without really meaning what one is saying or writing actually means it's meant to be funny neither. Think this as if that was a serial killer movie. and eminem as the writer of the whole thing. This doesn't mean the movie is comedy. Relapse is not a comedy album, it's more of a Slim Shady horrorcore cartoon

Like I said, Relapse is not a comedy album, its' main genre could be described as horrorcore cartoonish Slim Shady album. having some jokes on a movie doesn't make a movie comedy. Same with rap. Every rap album has humor in it I guess. We Made You is complete tongue in cheek for example.
Jan 12, 2016 Eminem thinks those sort of things are funny. It's dark humor. SSLP is comedy as well. The whole Slim Shady character is just cartoon violence. Just listen to the way he raps on Relapse, it's not meant to be taken seriously. He's saying all those things in a playful way. Plus, he said it himself, he went too far with the joke and returned to more emotional songs with Recovery. Not in a single song on Relapse is he seriously posing as a threat. It's just something to laugh about like "ohhh he said that, haha, crazy Slim" and that's it.
Jan 12, 2016 Neither is 3 A.M., My Mom, Insane, Bagpipes From Baghdad, Hello, Medicine Ball, Stay Wide Awake, Old Time's Sake, Must Be The Ganja and Crack a Bottle. The only serious songs are Beautiful, Deja Vu and maybe Underground (where he's more mean than playful). Even Deja Vu sounds like he's having a joke about his addiction, like it's all funny how he almost overdosed and died. If this is a horror movie, it's about a weird character who doesn't take himself seriously. It's like saying Tom & Jerry are horror because they do horrible things to each other.

Jan 12, 2016 SSLP is full of cartoonish violence. Real horrorcore albums are directly "I'll k--- you, I'm evil" while SSLP is just picturing funny ways to k--- you or mutilate you. It's cartoon violence, meant to be funny. Relapse as well.

Jan 12, 2016 No need to label it in a category. It's comedy horror or horror comedy. It certainly isn't something to take seriously, neither did Eminem take himself seriously while making it.
