Feb 5, 2022 well it's not 100% rock-rap ofc but stuff like sing for the moment just does not appeal to me at all. it's not a bad song and a lotta people rightfully love it but it's not for me. and even if not every song has rock-rap production but it def has a rock-rap vibe overall if that makes sense?
Feb 5, 2022 when I say aged poorly I don't mean all of it did—just certain aspects. there's certainly all-time great stuff on there like Say Goodbye Hollywood
Feb 5, 2022 rock-rap isn't inherently good or bad it's not an insult. it's just not appealing to me personally.
Feb 5, 2022 I understand that. I just don't think that TES as a whole has really a rock vibe in it, because of 2 or 3 songs that used some elements from that Genre.
Feb 5, 2022 I remember some days ago people tweeted that Em's old music didn't age well and Stans immediately pulled up the streaming-numbers of TES and Curtain Call..
Feb 5, 2022 You might have your own different opinions but it's a fact that TES has aged pretty well. Show me another rap album older than TES with 2 1 billion streamed songs lol. It recently got into Billboard 200 again. Obviously, people still f--- with it. How is that aging badly ? Oh, yeah bc you say so. And maybe some dumb a--- so called critic does.
Feb 5, 2022 Is it the same when you listen to some R Kelly-s---? The "aging" debate is more about the production and lyrical content. Not about how many people still listen to it imo. That's why it's dumb that Stans quickly pull out the numbers instead of adressing the actual music. I actually do think that TES aged well. There are also other old albums with beats that I'd describe as "still contemporary". Obviously they don't sound like today's music and they are old, but I actually still like them.
Feb 5, 2022 SSEP/LP era his best era and I’ll die on that hill. He was such a naturally dexterous and impressive rappper without it feeling tryhard + he was funny and able to get personal/introspective
Feb 5, 2022 You also thought Carter 1 was Wayne's best album so i'm not surprised by your takes anymore.
Feb 5, 2022 Carter 1 being Wayne's best [retail] album isn't a hot take at all man lol. And to be clear with my stance, Wayne absolutely continued to get better as a rapper after C1. I don't have any issue with someone picking C2 over it they're both phenomenal. And the original unleaked Carter III would have blown them both outta the water.
Feb 5, 2022 it's same with sslp vs mmlp I have no issue with someone thinking mmlp is better because em absolutely continued to get better and grow as a rapper. I understand why someone would prefer TES over it as well even tho I disagree. however the idea that any em album post-relapse is better than SSLP is insane to me.
Feb 5, 2022 Best era imo. I feel like a current focused determined Em could re create and recapture the magic of MMLP and tes but no way in h--- could he ever be as cartoony and comic book style as he was on sslp and that era of features. Only downside imo is his horrible 3 year old toddler voice lmfao.
Feb 5, 2022 I love the nasally slim shady voice lol that's part of why the era is great to me sslp era features are unreal, he's so hungry during that era I miss that spark
Feb 5, 2022 It's only fair to warn, I was born with a set of horns And metaphors attached to my d--- umbilical cord Warlord of rap that'll bash you with a two by four board And smash into your Honda Accord with a 4-door Ford But I'm more toward droppin' an acapella To chop a fella into mozzarella worse than a helicopter propeller Got you locked in the cellar with your skeleton showing Developing anorexia while I'm standin' next to ya Eating a four course meal, watching you starve to death With an IV in your veins, feeding you liquid Darvocet when em tries to do this stuff now it just doesn't have the same spark sadly. he used to make this type of thing sound so effortless. technically impressive battle rap that doesn't feel like it's just rhyming for rhyming sake
