May 19, 2022 Obviously Em made the classic song, but the term ‘Stan’ itself, which describes a crazed fan originates from Ether, Nas by referencing the crazed fan that Em created. Em only names the character Stan, he wasn’t intending on it becoming a term, he never coined it.

May 19, 2022 Nas saying Stan in a song doesn't change the cultural impact the song Stan already had and still has today. Sure, Em never intended Stan to become a term but neither did Nas. He was refering to the character Em created. Maybe I should have put emphasis on the impact Stan had rather than the term "Stan" . It would have avoided this debate. Because either way, Kendrick hasn't done anything comparable.
