They seem to paint a different picture to what you’re describing: Jeff states that they had to consistently tell Em to ‘slow down’ because they couldn’t tell what he was saying & they’d write instrumentals to match the mood he was expressing when he entered the studio on the specific sessions etc. This type of rapping is prominent in his old stuff pre-Bass Brothers which is a much more simplified version of what he is today, so it adds up: I understand Luis is involved but he’s clearly not a good or even a critical influence into the final product, I think he’s merely a helper to Eminem’s vision, rather than a guide which is what Em had in the past & still requires. The whole narrative that Em cannot make music as good as the past because he’s older is a moot point, people do exactly that, it’s a generalised statement. Look at R.A. The Rugged Man, making the best music of his life and his pen is sharper than ever, he’s been in the game since the 90s too. The difference is he has good influences around him, has taste & isn’t guided by commercial heights neither.
