Pretty much this. Even huge-named artists aren’t selling great first week anymore. The landscape has changed. Don’t expect really anyone to sell a million first week again.

    Pyrex Revival didn't go viral

Also, when Slaughterhouse album flopped Eminem took the blame from fans for adding his touches and making it more radio friendly as much as he felt he could without tarnishing their sound. He took the blame and he never handled his artist's projects too much. Hence why he hasn't even been an executive producer on the last few SR releases

It's weird seeing a mainstream label doing this bad. At least Slaughterhouse and Yela made a bit of noise.

I gotta disagree here G. Kendrick proved the opposite. Frank Ocean proves the opposite. f---in Wheezer proved the opposite. Even Cardi B hasn't dropped a real single since 2020 I think? That was WAP?

Music is so oversaturated right now and every song every artist is at the tip of your fingertips

Yela was most notable for me personally, and it was because of Love Story. Good f---ing album man.

I think the reason Yela stuck around in terms of popularity was because he consistently has released quality music. Like Trunk Muzik 3(?) was lacking a bit creatively imo, it was still a quality listen.

Yela had some hype before he signed to Interscope and then Shady. He was also doing features with Gucci and others.

I mean usually everybody got a lil hype before the Shady cosign, but even then Yela held *some* of that hype all the way to the end of his contract.

Yet other artists are still selling more than him. Even Banks who is allergic to promo.

Yeah, I think he ruined it with the last one. Other than that he was fun and even had some solo hits.

I skipped his last one and am mostly done with checking Yelawolf, his direction is more country now I think.

Banks has a solid fan base for his mixtapes. Dude is the PLK for a reason . If you’re a rap fan on the web it’s okay to not like banks . But you’re getting sh---ed on for not respecting his pen game
