Jul 20, 2019 I agree 100%. Eminem started with pretty basic wordplay in Recovery and evolved it into what we have today. Every line has multiple meanings, it all connects to some theme and at the same time keeps complex rhyme schemes and entertainment value. I too listen to new eminem more than the old one. I am still impressed with the guy 20 years after first hearing him.
Jul 20, 2019 I find his writting absolutely amzing on this, sometime the ryhmes can be overly forced I mean it works but it does not sound natural. This is what I reward the most, this ability to ryhmes crazy but to make it sound effortlessly (even though it isn’t obviously) and this exactly what I’ve found here. A line like « Compare me to Manson, Marylin or Charles, compare me to Nas » is thoughtful but at the same time seems to come so naturally. Good stuff right here. Great work overall.
Jul 20, 2019 Just listened again. How the f--- can anyone say he isn't flowing on this? Those few bars where he layers with the Gangstas Paradise line leading into the comparison section is pure head nodding. Yes, he f---s it with the last few seconds with the rearranged beat that belongs in a Mario game and the double time flow but that's the only thing that's wrong with the verse. And also, yes, I would 1000% had preferred to hear him over the original beat. Ems beat was good as well but definately sounded like 2 different songs unnecessarily.
