Jan 20, 2021 Oh yeah I remember that part about the Grammy, very odd. It makes you wonder when all of these people Em had around him on the rise to fame look at him with such contempt, maybe they’re not all bitter but actually have a point to an extent, as us fans, we only see so much. These people have been through thick & thin, to see people tossed away with no second thought (from our optics) - it certainly looks a kind of way. Bass Brothers basically captured lightning in a bottle, they saw the raw talent, the hunger, drive, energy & passion & with that, managed to control it enough to translate it into exceptional art. It’s pretty clear that without producer direction, Em is lost in comparison.

Jan 20, 2021 I remember looking at the tracklist for “Relapse” and “Recovery” and wondering: Oh s---. What’s this song about to be about? “3 am”? “Cold wind blows”? Interesting Etc, etc, etc. Then when I heard them they essentially just ended up being “Freestyle songs”. Cool, but, that’s been majority of his style since. As far as song structure, he can do it. And do it d--- near scary like: “Darkness” I do sometimes want that song concept style. Em just locked in to a different world and just going hyper focus on the details.
Jan 20, 2021 I think it’s clear from his drastic change in production from beat selection to mixing since Revival that he does think so. Just because he says in a few bars or interviews he doesn’t does not necessarily make it true, his actions (output) prove otherwise.
Jan 20, 2021 Completely agree. Darkness is one of the greatest songs I’ve heard from Em in a long, long time. It’s written masterfully as well, criminally underrated. I was utterly stunned on first listen.

Jan 20, 2021 Em's untouchable when he has a concept and he's willing to work on it minutely. I can say that very confidently even in 2021. But I can't understand why he wants to release tons of fillers. MTBMB would be almost perfect if not for fillers(relationship songs in particular). But he's given some great music in the last 2-3years. That gives me hope.
