    absolute trash (2013-present)
he tries to rhyme, but he forgets that hip-hop came about as freestyle over the beat (beatbox).

I don't like freestyles without a beat. this is not hip hop, this is absolute trash. it’s common speech (it’s not even rap), if it’s without beat, it’s not part of hip-hop! I claim it is not part of hip-hop culture. Eminem has literally stopped respecting hip-hop culture since 2013.

why did I love hip-hop music in the early 2000s? because it was a rhythm, a rhyme over a beat. it sounded cool. I repeat - THIS SOUNDED COOL. It was just amazing. That's how I fell in love with hip-hop music.

Eminem started doing these s-----y cyphers without a beat in 2013 and Eminem killed the hip-hop lover in me (the classic hip-hop music that was until the 2010s). Eminem was the reason why I stopped loving hip-hop music. Eminem showed in 2013 that rap can be absolute trash.

Eminem was the reason why I fell in love with rap in the early 2000s and Eminem was the reason why I stopped loving rap after 2013.

just compare this freestyle to whatever freestyle he does these days.

I hate modern Eminem. he doesn't do hip-hop anymore. he forgot that freestyle is primarily about rhythm and rhyme over the beat.

I can appreciate that Em gave you access to loving hiphop but to say Ems lack of love for hiphop killed your love shows you didn’t really love it at all. No hating on you it’s just There was a lot of amazing hiphop before him, during his prime and way after. We’ve gotten a lot of great hiphop albums in the last 10 years. Ems 3-4 year prime is a small dent in the amazing run hiphop has had.

I guess he was just trying something new since he had already done a lot of freestyles over beats.

Em needs to do another freestyle like despicable those cyphers were great especially the XV one but that last random one he uploaded to YouTube after Kamikaze lyrically was good had its s--- moments sure but the main key point is he without a doubt no longer has the lung power to pull that s--- off. Seeing him out of breath gased out insane amount of cuts etc was sad especially with how much of a beast he was before live.

Em can still rap his a--- off when he can punch in and fixing his voice did wonders as well but as far as live s--- goes his days are done which is fine his vocal performance relapseish especially recovery to MMLP2 is on another level

Despicable & those cyphers were brilliant but the one after Kamikaze was awful all around - lyrically & delivery wise, it was embarrassing to watch.

It's more the delivery he chooses that makes him out of breath rather than him being too old as you can see on certain songs performed, if it has a calmer executed delivery he can flow through it with ease, he can do triple time on Rap God in the middle of a concert live for example, because the syllables in that scheme are chosen to smoothen the flow. It's only when he gets on his staccato s--- does he start to look incapable.

I still love hip-hop, but what I listen to these days you can call it not even hip-hop.

the hip-hop that was from the 80s to the 2000s no longer exists. now something completely different has appeared. and I like the new music, but I don't like the new Eminem.

And there is one fact that g.k.m.c. was the last real hip-hop album and it was 2012. After 2012, no one has released real hip-hop albums, not even Eminem. That classic hip-hop sound that was lost after the 2000s. Nobody else does the hip-hop that used to be. Eminem doesn't do hip hop anymore.

In 2021, I don't call Eminem hip-hop, but other artists who showed a new sound.
