Aug 29, 2020 I feel like this album and Recovery are a unique period of his career where in order to make good songs again, he felt the need to "max" himself out. There was Recovery's fire-at-all-cylinders effort to scream in as much motivational disney level punchlines at your ears as he could. And there was of course take one. With Relapse, i don't think he's ever tried harder to show you how edgy he is, that vintage slim is back. And the worst offender is by far, this song right here. Every line on this thing tries to outdo the one that came before, and its all non-sequitirs, no connection, no theme, except "Shady's Back", even though he already kinda covered that with his old song... "I'm Back". He really thought he had a classic, rapping about Hannah Montana bein cut open like a cantaloupe, parapalegic lesbians, hittin a f-- with onions, and making Halloween a trick-or-treat holiday again. Somewhere in there, a glimpse of what could be a good verse, with him talkin about his rehab stint, and then back to Christopher Reeves sippy cups. This is the most extra he's ever been.
